Ok....if the Federation gets a carrier....there has to be a need for one.At the moment there is no need for the Federation to have a carrier.People...let it rest for now,and at least wait untill we get the Romulans as a playable faction....talk to ya later, bye bye
You have got to be kidding me in pvp our alt-tabing can get seriously overwhelmed with pets, it wouldn't hurt the klingons to share our frustration. besides now they have all our types of ships (since the addition to there sci ship) and moar. Though if we could just set a button to target players only I would be some what put at ease.

Agreed about the button. And believe me, Klingons do share this frustration - everytime someone pops holo fleets and fleet support. It gets even better when multiple people do this. -_-
I've already suggested some sort of "target priority setting" in the options menu, with three choices:
- target nearest enemy (default, same as now)
- target nearest enemy player - if no enemy player is within 15km range, target nearest NPC
- target nearest enemy NPC - if no enemy NPC is within 15km range, target nearest player (useful for escorts hunting down carrier pets)
I'm curious how the future threads will look like when additional factions come into the game.
Ideally every faction will have one or two unique ship classes noone else has.
The Klingons will have some the Federation, the Romulans and Cardassians don't have,
the Romulans have their own unique stuff etc.
And I'm sure there will be people who will scream, bite and kick until every unique piece of gameplay the others have is available on the Federation side.
Instead of demanding adjustments when something is too strong like this:
For every advantage the Klingon Player has, the Federation Player has a counter available to them.
No problem. Science Officers have many innate abilities meant to help detect, or even force Klingons out of cloak, such as sensor scan.
Tachyon Detection Grid can help your entire team detect cloaked vessels.
Plus, simply running higher AUX setting will help anyone to detect a cloaked vessel.
Mines, and other AOE abilities such as Torpedo Spread, CPB, EWP, and others will hit a cloaked vessel and do some damage to them without even being able to target them.
As has been mentioned many times, Beam Array: Fire at Will, Cannon: Scatter Volley, Eject Warp Plasma, and others are all great abilities to limit a carriers effectiveness.
Klingons are far away from being the unstoppable powerhouse that many of you seem to think they are. I know this because I play a Klingon, and I can tell you I lose more matches than I win.
If you're having trouble facing off against Klingons, try asking a Klingon how to beat them. Almost every single one of them will tell you what your team needs to do in order to counter anything they do. However, PvP is a team based game.
If you actually expect to run into a PvP match, not work with your teammates, and still be able to faceroll your keyboard for the win, it's time to wake up and smell the disruptor burns.
It's almost always going to be the better organized team that wins. Space combat in STO is a very tactical game. It requires strategy, skill, and a knowledge of how different skills interact.
Focus your teams fire on one opponent. If that one opponent isn't going down, figure out why, and eliminate the problem.
If your team doesn't have someone providing support to the rest of the team, why not?
If you're a team of 5 escorts and can't take down a couple of carriers, there's a problem, and I bet you're not focusing your firepower.
If you're a team of 5 Cruisers and can't keep your team alive, maybe one or two of you needs to be doing some support?
5 Science vessels? You guys better be rocking some serious debuffs, as well as supporting each other if you want to win.
Got 5 BoPs together in a match? If you're not focus firing and using hit and run tactics, my bet is on the Feds.
Every power in this game has a counter. Almost everyone in the PvP Community wants to help you learn how to succeed in PvP. That means they'll tell you their tips and tricks, including what works to stop what they do. Try listening to what they have to say, and take their position into account. Don't just assume that since the other team has battle cloak that this one ability is why you keep losing.
I'm telling you right now, cloak, and battle cloak have their uses. But if your entire team isn't working together, and know how to use that ability, it becomes a hindrance, not an advantage.
Same thing with the carrier swarm.
Both of these can also be easily countered by readily available skills as well.
in before thread lock/immenant forum bans of fed carrier whiners
I think Starfleet's response to all their captains dragging their asses home in half destroyed ships crying "Carriers melted us!" would not be "Well, guess we need to get some carriers of our own". It would be "Time to roll out something that melts carriers".
I think this ship is (or should be) the Dreadnought Cruiser. It's design suggests that it is best used against big, slow targets that aren't going to outrun it or get out of it's forward guns easily.
Piloting one of these as an Engineer i've had mixed results using it to combat carriers. I can easily tank the minions and the carrier itself and certainly put out more hurt than i could in my AC or SC, but i think with a more co-ordinated team, and maybe a Tactical captain at the helm, the Dreadnought Cruiser could be the way to deal with carriers.
Make it better then anything the klingons have and ever will have make it so we can kick them all the way back to Qo'nos
So you can't do it without a special ship?:p
On a serious note: if an additional ship that is specifically designed to counter a large number
of small targets is really required, how would a T5 Akira with a multitarget torpedo system sound?
Unlike the fighter thingy (it's still not even clear whether the 25 meter wide Peregrine would fit through the forward hangar doors without subspace compression) we've seen her use torpedoes and she does have those launchers on her model.
Why not use them for a special ability?
Could make her an interesting anti-carrier escort in a true sense of the word "escort".
Of course the Klingons would deserve something similar for KvK.
A T5 K't'inga class "Escort Battlecruiser" could do the trick.
And it wouldn't even have to be an exact mirror ability since the K't'inga uses
torpedoes of a 15 meter caliber.
Fewer torpedoes with bigger AoE would still work quite well.
Maybe it would already be enough if they'd just allow us to fire Torpedo Spread without a specific target, too. Nothing kills fighters faster than AoE, which is why escorts running Scatter Cannons are perfect for neutralizing a carrier's pets (sadly, few escort players actually assume this duty).
Torpedo Spread without the need to target would be another tool for detecting (or at least hurting) cloaked ships as well.
