I've been reading here on the forums that when Cryptic announced plans to add the NX to the game a bunch of people threatened to cancel their subs if they did. I don't understand why adding the NX as a high lvl Retrofit Escort. There are several things that can be changed in the original NX interior layout compared to the Defiant, that can make room for modern systems.
A Deck Situation Room
C Deck Upper Observation Deck
C Deck Gymnasium
D Deck Decon room
D Deck Guest Quarters
F Deck Lower Observation Deck
G Deck Grapplers
G Deck Guest Quarters
The Kitchen
Around 30 Crew Quarters
So taking all these things into consideration, please explain to me why adding this ship would make the game so horrible that you would want to cancel your sub?
There are a handful of canon fodders that want a "true" 25th century time line. In all reality, the NX is out of place in this century. with that said, having it be a "recreation" of the NX and not an actual NX helps... a little. I was a little apprehensive about a 200 year old junker being added to the game, but by making it a T1 recreation of the NX, I actually like it. Much better than that blasted Miranda.
I would not go so far and say that I hate the NX Retrofit. But IMHO this ship class is simply obsolete. It should only be used as a nostalgic replica. No one would retrofit a more than 250 year old design. It's like that the U.S. Navy would outfit a three-master sailing vessel with nuclear propulsion to use it as support vessel for a carrier battlegroup. And now, when we have got the NX-Class ingame right now, where would this retrofit story end?
Like I said in some other threads before: Is it too late to demand a fully retrofit 21st century Spaceshuttle as a tier 5 escort ship?
Most of us want more retrofits. There are several threads going around which suggest the idea in one way or another. I don't say "most of us' lightly because it seems that in most of these discussions, the general consensus is for something different. There's a few that don't want it, sure. I would love flying my NX or my Olympic class at Admiral. It would make a lot of players very happy.

and some players unhappy. There's things that could be added that make everybody happy. the NX retrofit or the connie retrofit are not one of these. nobody flying a 25th century sovereign, or some other gigantic kickass ship, wants to get beaten by those ships, its just woefully unappropriate. IF, god forbid, these ever become available for vice admiral, i hope they are by far the weakest tier 5's around, only good for PvE (barely) and nothing else.
And a "Phoenix" retrofit !
with quantum launcher and Tricobalt weapons !
and maybe a Ablative armor and a Transphasic cloak ?
with a Warp 10.1 Warp travel capacity.

Yes, I do understand that. But, since day one, you were in a light cruiser blowing up enemy battleships and Klingon Battleships. If you want to stick with such strict ship inadequates, then you have to start by reprogramming the entire game. There are certainly some missions that should absolutely not be completable with a light cruiser ship, but yet they are very beatable. Why would starfleet send you to Klingon or Romulan Territory in such "light tier" ships? If they are that much below us shipwise, then we could easily conquer the Klingon and Romulan Empires By sending a squad of high tier ships. The realism that you guys want simply doesn't exist in this game. It never did. I'm sorry.

The majority of the people asking for Retrofits of the lower tier ships are not thinking PvP, because with all due respect, PvP in this game is completely insignificant. It's not the primary focus of the game, much less the end game. Yet it seems that the majority of the objection people put forth to allowing smaller ships to be retrofitted, is coming from the PvP crowd. The incredibly stupid thing is, most of the lower tier ships, are in fact more modern than the T5 ships. The Excalibur is as new if not newer than the Sovereign, Galaxy, Luna, Intrepid and Defiant classes, all which have T5 versions or T5 Refits. The Nova and Sabre are newer than the Galaxy and the Defiant.
It's time for the discussion to shift.
Do Sovereigns get beaten to a pulp by T5 Retrofit B'Rels?
The B'Rel got a believeable T5 upgrade because it is a wildly popular Klingon ship. Not because it's the best ship available to the KDF.
There is no reason the Nova, Excalibur and Sabre couldn't be rolled into a "Light Cruiser" T5 Retrofit, that follows the same template as the B'Rel. Universal Officers, a hull that is just barely adequate for Tier 5, even consoles across the board and added weapon slots. B'Rel BOPs are not OP, and neither would these Light Cruiser Retrofits.
Rejecting Lower Tier Refits, based on 2 Historical classes, is ridiculous, when there are plenty of ships in the lower tiers which would be completely believeable for T5 Refits.
The key is, people have to wrap their minds around not seeing these refits as "equal" to other T5 ships. I think the B'Rel does a fantastic job of bringing a lower tier ship up to T5, without unbalancing against the other T5 ships, and should be the model for the Refits of Starfleet's T2 ships.
