The plus is that this should be incredibly easy to do, with no real downside, at least not one I can see.
Getting more people into PvP I like, tripling the XP for playing PvP at the lower ranks I don't.

We already get through the lower ranks far too quickly in my view and I'm actually enjoying fighting at the lower ranks with my Klingon, I'm in no rush to get him to VA level (so much so that I'm not doing much if any PvE on him).

Note: I realise my thinking on this is probably different to most who want to get to VA as quick as possible!

Just give us the option of turning off skillpoint gains, I wouldn't mind having a twink.

Aren't the PvP awards already based on the Damage/healing you do in the match? At VA, top scorers get 33 medals of whatever and then it trickles down to as low at 23 medals now?

Not that I am aware of. It's possible. But keep in mind that this is tracked only for you and independent on how long you take. (But if you take longer, well, don't get the reward as often.)

Keep in mind that it is currently more effective to not do PvP and level via Exploratio or Defense only. Increasing the PvP reward to that level (or slightly above, to provide a real incentive) would't really change the leveling speed significantly.

And I think the "average" leveling speed to Admiral or General is fine. But lower levels take too long and higher levels are too short. Lt. and Lt.Cmdr levels are tediously and frustrating slow, and at Rear Admiral, the leveling is over in no time. Now, if you think even the average is too fast, maybe we can adjust it down, but make sure that low level doesn't take longer then high level.

But that is, ultimately, a topic for another thread.

That's just human nature for the most part and that really can't be changed. If this plan is a go, it'd be best to focus on the potential benefits instead.

- More player exposure to PvP so they at least have some idea what to do once they've reached the caps
- A viable alternative avenue to level up within a reasonable time frame
- Make it easier for Klingons to level up as well if they don't want to PvE grind cluster missions, this probably works both ways as well since additional PvP oriented players might join the game as a result. I still maintain the stance that you're a bad friend if you convinced them to play STO in its current state though

Well, like the title says, its a quick and dirty solution. As much as something more elegant might be preferred, lowbie PVP is pretty much non-existant. So you have to jumpstart interest in it somehow. And that is where I think tripled rewards comes in.

It could scale of course, say triple up to captain, and then for captain and admiral/general, go to double to keep people interested in those quick leveling zones.

I'd certainly like to see some of these ideas to help it be more interesting, and get people to actually do more than nothing at all, but I haven't seen any that would help get more people doing PVP in the first place, in my opinion. I think the key is to make PVP more worth the time first.

As for AFKers, well, personally, I'd be happy to see AFKers in the battle (and hey, you'd see them back in the day too, when lowbie PVP was more common). Because at least then its more people signing up for PVP to get more matches going, to help the people that actually want to PVP. Its better than nothing.

Personally, I leveled two characters primarily on PVP, my first KDF and my escort captain. But times have changed and in leveling up two more KDF, I consider it lucky to even see a match start.

But unless the interest in lowbie PVP spiked, you'd still level much faster doing anything else, even with tripled rewards.

Very nice ideas and everybody would just win. PVP being a real viable option to level is a very good thing and has no downsides. Of course, it shouldn't be more effective than doing PVE stuff, but cryptic wouldn't do that anyway.

I'm pretty much through with lvling alts, but if this would be implemented, I'd probably find some use for a 7th or 8th toon :>

I PvP a lot. I'm currently bringing up an alt, and am PvPing him more than I did my main. I just reached RA, and am still working on Lt Comm PvE missions because my PvP rewards level me up quite quickly. I don't really see a need for more rewards of the type that are already there. If there were special rewards that had nothing to do with leveling, I'd be all for it.
