Indeed. Players demanded failable missions. Players demanded missions with true consequences. What happens when Cryptic provides? We get threads like this.

Tough break dude. I'd be fuming too, more at myself than cryptic, but glad you were also able to get over it without burning down a building. :p

The way i beat the level is i had a friend shoot down the rest of the comet while B'vat followed me all around the map. I was in an escort so i could continue to shoot down the other ships without worry of him catching up to me. I did have a few close calls though!

Just an FYI. I was not one of those players too excited about failable missions. I was content with the version of the game that launched. I do understand why players have wanted the changes though with many having past histories like Eve Online and WOW running throughout some player's game histories.

Ok, I just woke up. Off to update and try finishing the mission to put it behind me and move on.

Um...

When you're trying to blow up te last two asteroid shards, that particular D7 will attempt to ram you *yes, even when it's supposed to be "disabled) - there's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it message to that effect when it does. At that point, that D7 uses the Ramming Speed ability to try to nail you, and if it does, the ship blows up without warning, insta-failing the mission.

Perhaps that happened to you? Basically, when you see the message you need to change course, as that D7 will only move in a straight line, towards the point you were when you got the message.

Perhaps that's what happened?

Can someone please explain to me why I was just stabbed in the back by Cryptic? Why?!?
So let me get this straight, you waited until the very last possible moment to do this mission, even though it's been available for weeks now, and Cryptic is the one at fault when you're not able to finish it in time?

Most likely this was the issue and the OP merely missed it.
Or a Dev, seeing the OP about to finish with just minutes left on the deadline, let loose an evil giglge and blew up the D7 out of spite.

I enjoyed the ramming part of the mission. The first time around I was within 2.5 KM of him when he charged me. I had to pop some speed skills and barely got away (my cruiser is kinda slow).

As for the reward, I'd give it to the OP if it wasn't bound. It just sits in my bank gathering dust.

I like the staff. You can use it without the pattern enhancer, it's just more effective with the enhancer running. I enjoy the enhancer: Oh look, a starfleet engineer. Oh look a Klingon, ow that hurt.

I failed it once on my Science RA... I wasn't thinking and had the Admiral Fleet Support skill and Photonic Fleet running at the same time when he went to ramming speed. They merrily blew him out of the sky.
