I understand that some people were anticipating the ship and the shock of the price has upset you. But objectively, it makes a lot of sense as a "Galaxy X" counterpart. Perhaps making it a choice for the referrers (either the X or the Guramba) would round things out nicely, but there is little room left for justifiable anger as is.
There's plenty of reason for justifiable anger.
Most of it stemming from the likelihood that the majority of people viewed this ship as the upgrade for raptor captains. The equivalent of the various refits and the Kar'fi. Something they expected to have much earlier even, back when everyone else got their refits. For those raptor pilots anticipating something like that, to be left out in the cold, with no refit in sight, yeah, I'd say that is justifiable.
Nor does a Galaxy X counterpart make sense, since it is not a referral award. They both have lances really doesn't hold much water. After all, both it and other ships have weapon mounts you can put phasers in.
If Cryptic is getting backlash, it is, quite frankly, their own fault. If it was going to be limited to this, they should have made that clear from the outset. Instead, it almost winds up feeling like a bait and switch.
Now, mind you, I intend to get the ship. But it is yet another example of Cryptic screwing things up with poor communication and poor decision making.
Well here's my take if Cryptic really wants to wish us happy holidays they should just offer us something worthwhile like including the Guramba ship in the C-store winter sale or at least something more useful than a lame shuttle pet for helping test season 3 we should get some sort of usuable gift instead of just a wish its sorta like giving a soldier who served their country for say 30 yrs and all they got was an honorable mention thats kinda degrading dont ya think.
Well, I think the old bit about the "cash store" is pretty old and tired at this point - All games make you pay for premium content, some don't do it very MUCH, but they all do it. (this isn't as bad as the expensive Sparkle-pony in WoW, or the 15 dollar mini-pets, for example)
You're right. It's not as bad. It's much, much worse. The sparkle pony gets you places somewhat faster. Big deal.
This has unique abilities that actually come into play in gameplay.

Ahh. I see you recognize this, yet still support it. Good for you. Have fun paying the cost of some games' full expansion boxes for every new mechanical option from now on. You've proven to Cryptic they can charge that much.
This is why STO won't go F2P/hybrid. It already is, but with $15 as the 'free' point.
