Would it be possible to have a "Constitution"-class Cruiser as a VA? I'm surprised after all this time that noone has mentioned including this iconic ship from Star Trek as a cruiser available at the higher levels.

As far as I know, its only available to Lieutenant Commanders (?) but not for later ranks. This is a real bummer, since Kirk was commanding one as a Captain/Admiral.

Not only this, but when fans think of Star Trek, the "Constitution"-class is always thought of, as well as the crew that flew her.

I think the uses for a Constitution Refit would be to make some means of being able to combine parts from the TOS Constitution, TMP Constitution, Vesper, and Excalibur.

The only other thing would be yet another counter to the Retrofit B'Rels and other cloaked ships, even though we already have the Nebula and its' tachyon detection grid.
Perhaps the ability to have torpedoes with the ability to track cloaked ships or something. (Like in ST 6)

It may also have to be a Cruiser with enhances Science abilities

However, I doubt this would ever happen.

I would rather see the Soverign tweeked such that it is a more popular choice long before a VA Consitution. That ship in all its incarnations should have been mothballed years ago(from the 2409-2410 perspective). The only one that should still have an active commision should be the original "Old Ironsides" with a place of honor in Earth Spacedock and only take out for a cruise around the moon and back similar to how the U.S.S. Consitution is the only wooden sailing ship to still have an active commison in the 21st century's US Navy.

Going with that line, there could be two missions that idea. The first could be a "training" mission where the player in his/her frigate "escorts" the Consitution from ESD around the moon and back. The date of this mission would be set in early 2409. The second would be a similar mission, but the Romulans/Klingons/ Cardassians or some other group tries to destroy the ship in the hopes of damaging morale. This second one would be scaled up to VA, with "Old Ironsides" holding stats slightly better than a Commander in a tier 2 Consitution. The difficulty would be that the NPCs (or even Klingon PCs!) can actually destroy it, causing the mission to fail. The time frame of this mission would be late 2410-2411.

I can understand your desire to have one! This is a very heated debate and you can find about 7 active threads in the Star Trek Online Discussion area. If you would like to add some opinions to those threads I recommend you hop over there and read through the debate and points being made.
