Hello Forum.

since I've joined I spend a lot of time in planning out Anti-Borg mechanics (they are like the best DSE victims anyway). So I wanted to share some ideas on how to counter them with the perfect build.

For Cruisers:
Antiproton beam array Mk X [Brg] 3fore 3aft
Quantum torpedo Mk X 1fore
Tricobalt torpedo Mk X [Brg] 1aft

Shields: Aegis
Impulse: Aegis
Deflector: Aegis

Consoles:
Eng- EPS Flow Mk X VR, Plasmafold Mk X VR, Shield Emitter Amp X VR, Field Generator X VR{Assault} or Boost modulator X VR{Star}
Sci- {Just ones that boost your Sci officer heals}
Tact- {Ones that improve weapons}

Still working on Escorts and Sci vessels. Appreciate ideas and feedback.

Some suggestions -- or at least, things I would change on the build to suit me. (cruiser build)

I would drop the EPS flow, and add in some energy armour (anti-proton ?) You are going to lose shields, so would like some resists on the hull.

Sci consoles - Haz Emits console works well, and I use the Borg Universal in the other Sci slot

Tac consoles -- I have the Auto Defence, one weps console, and one specific torp console (two weps would not hurt) If you do not have a Auto Defence, I would put in two energy weps and one torp console.

How do you make a tricobalt effective on a cruiser? I tried it and it always hit a sliver of shields that got back up. My weapons are at 125 and I run antiproton x6 and quantums x2 on my assault cruiser.

the easiest way for the tricobolt is to put it in the back slot and as your going in and turn it will fire and move faster

I use a tricobalt on my Negh'Var , my alpha combo is
decloak app 7 km away. fire tricobalt, hit evasive manuvers,(you will fly faster than the tricobalt) use aux battery, & at a range of 5 use tractor beam & EWP3, as you overfly your opponent, use beam target subsystem shields 2. stay on course for a few seconds as you overfly your target spewing your EWP,as the tricobalt will move your enemy out of the plasma field if you dont.
anyway, it doesn't always work, but when it does, it is AWESOME

Other suggestion - and this takes a little practice.

Start hammering with beams until you see the shields weakening pretty well. From around 4.5 Km you do this sequence quickly

Turn until you can *just* fire the tri from the aft slot
Evasive turn to get the front quantum lined up
Shoot quantum torp.

You will go through your target arc pretty quickly on the front torp shot, so be ready on that launch, do not depend on autofire, it reacts too slow. Quantum should arrive *just* before the tri, and if there is any shields left, they will be gone. Timing portion is the distance you need to be to give enough time to get your ship turned to get that front torp off, so it arrives first.

for cruisers:

Weapons
-Fore: 1 DBB, 2 BA, 1 Torpedo
-Aft: 2 BA, 2 turret

Consoles
-Eng: EPS Flow Reg, RCS Accelerator, Injector Assembly, Inertial Dampener
-Sci: Assimilated Module, Halon System
-Tac: (energy weapon type) x2

BOff abilites
-Eng: EPtA1, Eng Team 2, Aux to SIF 2, Aceton Field 3
-Eng: EPtW1, Aux to Damp 2, DEM 2
-Tac: FAW1, AP:B1
-Sci: HE1, SS1

Deflector: Borg
Shields: Aegis
Engines: Aegis

This is a general guide for cruisers. If you fly an assault cruiser, you can take a target:subsystem or tac team in the extra ens slot. For star cruisers, polarize hull and jam sensors are effective choices. The biofunction monitor is also a good sci console for star crusiers once those torpedoes start hitting.

I posted this awhile back and i wasnt even fighting borg (Leave it to me to go in and try to be all smart, lolz) but since then I have gotten a field test done and it seems that I need to update the post:

Cruisers:
Stick with the Antiproton weapons that are Borg-effective and 1 quantum to the front
Same with Aft (though you may want to exchange the tricobalt with a quantum as a matter of playing style)

Shields: Regenerative Mk XI [Reg] x2 or 3 (dont even bother with Aegis or any covariants they are very inneffective) and eventually Assimilated Borg shield
Engines: Aegis
Deflector: Aegis

Consoles:
Depending on what is easiest to find, either traburnium, electroceramic or ablative hull armor. Borg ships do indeed use plasma energy weapons and these hull armors will help. get 2 of them.
Keep the EPS flow regulator and get a plasma manifold if your weapons are set to 70 or less. If not, get a shield emitter amp

For science get halon systems and for tac get beam boosters and Antiproton boosters. Keep in mind that most time you will rely on Ap beams to broadside so you will want to maximize the damage.

For escorts, stick with the same for shields, engines and deflectors

Weapons:
2 Dual Heavy Ap cannons [Brg]
Quantum torpedo - (or if preferred, replace with another dual beam)
Dual Ap Beam Bank [Brg]
Aft:
Ap turrets x 2 [Brg]
Quantum torpedo or again if prefered, another turret

Consoles:
Tacts just boost antiproton
Sci same
and Engie hull armor and EPS flow

Science same as cruisers for weapons and engines, make sure that you have 2 fore and 2 aft with 1 quantum in front and ESPECIALLY a TRICOBALT IN BACK.
the tricobalt will be very effective if you utilize tractor beam

Consoles are still the same
