Currently Available Emblems (per day):
  • PvP Daily (Arena, C&H, or Warzone) - 3 Emblems
  • B'Tran Daily - 3 Emblems
  • Explore B'Tran Cluster (repeatable every 30 minutes) - 1 Emblem
  • Fleet Action Daily - 3 Emblems
  • Aiding the Deferi Daily - 3 Emblems
  • Rescuing the Breen Captives Daily - 1 Emblem
  • Emancipation Daily - 1 Emblem
  • Traelus Satellite Repair Daily - 1 Emblem
  • Alhena Defense Contract Daily - 1 Emblem (random number of Computer Core Fragments for Salvage Dispute Daily/Unlockable)
  • Aid the Sh'mar Daily - 1 Emblem
  • Salvage Dispute Daily - 3 Emblems (Requires 10 Computer Core Fragments to unlock, usually available every 3rd or 4th Day, assuming that Alhena mission is completed each day.)
  • STF Dailies - 5 Emblems (Each mission can be completed once per day, earning up to 5 Emblems, which are awarded in smaller increments at checkpoints through the missions. Can be done to a checkpoint and dropped the following day, in order to repeat the chosen checkpoint.)

TOTAL Potentially Available: 41 (Assuming that you are skilled/crazy enough to complete all 4 STF's in a 20-hour period, and that you have enough CCF's to unlock the Salvage Dispute Daily.)

TOTAL Realistically Available: 18 (On a normal, daily basis, without the time sink of the STF's or needing to have the 10 CCF's.)

Thus, 2 average days of emblem grinding will get you an Emblem Weapon or Console, while you can get an Engine, Shield, or Deflector in less than a week. Additionally, if you play multiple characters, it is often advisable to work on only one in a given day, but accept the available Daily Missions on your other characters; then, finish the Dailies on the character which you are working on. The following day, you will be able to accept the Missions with your first character, then you can switch to another character, and double up on all of the available Emblem missions (The Deferi and Eta Eridani Missions, in particular, can help to quickly crank out additional Emblems on a 'double-up' day.)

Even if you only prefer to do PvP Dailies, in much less than an hour, you can do the 3 Eta Eridani missions and Rescue the Breen Captive for 4 Extra Emblems per day, bringing your daily haul to 7 Emblems, earning you a Console in only 4 days, and a weapon in 5 days.

There are plenty of available Emblems, and new missions that award Emblems are being gradually added to the mix.

-Big Red

NOTE: I haven't had a chance to check the new Pi Canis missions for the Klingon side, but, if they award Emblems also, the KDF has an extra 3-6 Emblems available on a regular, daily basis.

How does one activate/acquire these dailies? Specifically the first 2, seeing as the first one eventually unlocks the 3rd one...

The first two are distress calls - they activate when you approach their locations. The Alhena system is in the top-middle of the Eta Eridani sector block, the Sh'mar moves around the bottom-left of the same block. Salvage Dispute is a mission from Franklin Drake just like the Traelus daily, he offers it any time you have 10 computer cores.

How do the crafted items stack up to the gear you get with emblems? Seems to me it's far easier and faster to master crafting and collect data sample and make the gear you want rather than take weeks to accumulate enough emblems to buy a piece at a time.

It depends. You have to look at the mods on them and decide which ones seem better. (A hint is you can access the "R&D Progress" window from the mini-map "triangle" pulldown, so you can compare crafted ones with those at the emblem vendor without running back and forth from Memory Alpha to ESD). If you want [CrtD]x2 [Dmg] on your antiproton beam arrays, you can only get that through emblems. If you prefer [CritH] [Dmg]x2 instead, you'll need to craft them. Most people I expect would want the emblem ones more, since the whole point of AP weapons is their heavy crit severity mods.

For consoles, NEVER waste emblems on them. The crafted ones are exactly the same and require no rare particle traces. The only exceptions are some of the armor consoles, which you cannot craft at Mk XI. But the benefit of blue armor consoles is slight or none in most cases anyway, compared with white and green ones you can buy cheap off the exchange. There are no purple Mk XI consoles available through either crafting or the emblem vendor, so just craft all the blue ones you can, and blow emblems on them only when you have nothing else to spend emblems on.

For kits, there are none higher than Mk X, and you can get the exact same ones through crafting, emblems, or even the Marks of Exploration, as I recall. I would just get those by whichever means is quicker for you at the moment. I think I crafted one or two, got one or two through Marks, and just bought the others cheap or got from my fleet bank. They're priced pretty steep in emblems or Marks, and they're also a pain to craft, but the outcome is the same any way you go.

For everything else, given the number of rare traces required for purple Mk XI gear, you will probably find it's quicker and easier to get your gear through emblem grinding than through farming. It can take a week (weeks) or more of farming to get the three Vertions you need for just one Mk XI purple Trico launcher. But following BigRedJedi's itinerary, you can get three of them in five days of just doing all the "usual" emblem dailies each day. (Of course, if you're camping the Kling exploit spots, you may find farming a lot quicker for everything . . .).

For ground gear, the stats vary a lot. If you want a knockback [PBKB] personal shield, you can only get that with emblems. But if you want a [Cap]x3 personal shield, that can only be crafted. It's kind of annoying how they seem to have slapped random mods on a lot of these, and the same mods aren't available in both emblem and crafting catalogs. If you want to craft, you will also be limited to phaser weapons only for ground, where the emblem dealer has all types.

For body armor and personal shields, I like the crafted ones better, but they're too painful to farm a full set of five purples for my BOFFs. I wound up just crafting green Mk XI weapons and armor sets of different types for my away team, since I didn't feel like grinding either the emblems or the traces for them, and green stuff required no traces. My captain has a random mix of purple stuff I got through both crafting and emblems that I swap around.
