In the interest of updating a previous post to provide clarity. I did receive a few nibbles from yesterdays post, but when I attempted to follow up on fleets I was interested in I hit dead ends.
I've recently returned after a long break and trying to relearn the game, but truth to be told I only played for a few weeks last summer so I'm a new player twice over. I rolled a new character and redid the tutorial before picking up the one I already had.
I'm looking for a mature and friendly group to play with. I'm definitely a grown up (39) with a real life outside of the game, but will be active as much as life permits. I'm not looking for hand outs (No intentions of standing in the charity line), but would appreciate the assistance that players with more experience than I have via advice. A group to do the group content would be great *cough* Crystal Entity *cough* and such.
Small to Mid size fleets where people can actually develop cohesion is definitely a plus.
I am fine with roleplaying, but it isn't a hard requirement. I can go either way as long as it isn't 100% ic at all times.
What I bring to STO:
1) A genuine love for the universe of Star Trek. I became a fan back in the 70's when I was a kid watching re-runs after school.
2) Twelve years of MMO playings and while that means little to ability in STO I do understand the basic principals of these games operate and etiquette inside the game.
3) A genuinely nice guy who will come help when called upon.
Things I am not looking for:
1) Player Collectors: Blind invites, mass invites, etc. Where the recruiter invites as fast as he can click on unfleeted players. To each their own, but its not my interest to be in the biggest most unfamiliar fleet in game.
2) Elitist Fleets: I have no desire to get griped at and / or put down by someone who thinks they are Roddenberry's gift to Star Trek lore or ingame play ability.
To those that left messages yesterday check your emails or send me a tell in game if after the additional details if you would like to follow up with me.
Leave message here or contact: Brahm@edinellion ingame.
I recommend that you look into Lotus Fleet. We are a mid-size group with several active players and even more active forum members. We are more of a Star Trek fleet than strictly an STO fleet with several members that have been fans since TOS. We have a group of members that concentrates on getting through STO content, such as weekly episodes and STF's, with fleet members All of our members have passed the Lotus Fleet Academy, which offers several courses on Trek history, STO, etc., so you can usually count on an educated conversation with our members. We offer several RP opportunities in Trek and other realms; these are a great way to build relationships with members of our fleet. I hope that you'll check out our site and feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have.

I posted yesterday about the TOS Veterans Fleet. What you describe above is what brought our fleet together.
None of us were interested in the typical Fleet mentality out there. Most of us are children of the 70s who remember those reruns like they were yesterday.
The fleet was started from a post by our founder Katra about whether there were any mature fleets with an emphasis on the original series out there. From there a bunch of people who were looking to join such a fleet came together and created one, knowing full well that most of us have lives outside the game that includes children and spouses.
We just want to hang out with a bunch of people that share our take on the whole trek thing and enjoy this game to its fullest and geek out a bit with the Trek. Most of us are lifers from as far back as closed beta so we can help with the relearning curve as much as you would like.
I really think you should reconsider checking us out.
go to our site at http://stotosveteransfleet.guildlaunch.com/
and take a look around, read the forum posts especially.
We are a small group and our only stance on growth is:
Are there people who want to join in on this type of fleet because its a good fit and that they are interested in making some good friends.
I posted on your previous thread. You would be welcome to stop by the UFP website and forums and as you can tell, we are very much Star Trek enthusiasts and have been around since 2002. We are fairly large but a big part of that is because we do have players from across the globe. But I at least have found it easy to build up relationships with other members during my short time with them and they have all been nothing but friendly and welcoming.
My apologies for not seeing your PM sooner! I was out of town all weekend, and had to have 3 fillings yesterday. The weekend was fun, and the dentist visit was not, even though she is a wonderful person!
Anyway, I sent you a PM back. Hope I was able to answer your questions.
The 528th Fleet sounds like we would be your kind of fleet, very casual social group of gamers who are active at all times of the day, we all have lives outside of the game but when we are able to we all love to get together and have a good time on sto, we also play other games while on vent like supreme commander etc, so we do get together for anything and everything, good people are in our fleet, we love to help teach and at the same time open to learning from others.
Goto our website and check us out, send me a tell or mail in game @derek7820
I think you would be interested in The Mercenary Order. We are a small casual fleet with focus on socialising and enjoying the game together. Our only fleet requirement is maturity, we don't care about in-game ability or activity levels. I have mailed you in-game with more information.

There are loads of fleet in the game, and I see that you have had a number reply to you. So I thought that I would tell you about The Last Outpost.
We are a small fleet at the moment in STO, that has branched out from playing RPG-X. Most of us are Role Players. We enjoy getting the most out of our time playing. For us, Role Playing helps take our mind of the real world. For a little bit.
Our fleet has no problems if you 18 or 80 years old. the main thing that we ask of our players is that they respect there fellow team mates, and that they have fun. There are always players on-line who will love to team up if you want to get a mission out the way like ........Crystal Entity? lol
If you want some more information, then contact Brex or my self in game and we will be more than happy to tell you all about our fleet. Or check out our web-site. The line is in my signature bar.
Which ever fleet you end up picking I am sure that you will love playing. And....... Welcome back
I have to admit that 3rd fleet are not small-medium. We are an international fleet with a large membership playing over many timezones (sorry if that's obvious )
We think we meet all of your requirements. We do not spam we are not elitist (although we are proud of our fleet). You certainly won't get a jumped-up-trekkie telling you what's canon. Of course people have opinions and will share them with you if you ask - but we pride ourselves on being a friendly bunch with a mature attitude (ie encouraging, friendly, supportive not over. If someone starts throwing their weight about or abusing the privileges of rank or just plain rude - we act swiftly. We don't loose sight of the fact this is supposed to be FUN. And that includes acknowledging that RL ... Happens (and you don't often get fore warning).
Our size allows us to do group events (scheduled and unscheduled) and we also have lots of multi-fleet events (sharing the fun )
