I believe we're specificly talking retrofits here. Of the retrofits the only Tac oriented ones are the BoP, Garumba, and Kar'fi. However the Garumba is 2000 C-points or months of grinding, and the Kar'fi is a flying space whale with the turn rate of a small planetary body.

Even the battle cruisers up to this point have been able to turn and get cannons to bear rather quickly, super escorts really, but the Kar'fi is... lacking.

I think a T5 Retrofit Raptor with a normal battle cloak would be a nice edition. Or the ability to get the Garumba with the LT.Gen token.

Though the sound affects and visuals were impressive thats where the excitement ended for me.

For a TAC ship + cannon loadout this ship was a dead duck in tha water.

I decided to engage siege mode and suddenly, even with engine battery power engaged the ship speed was reduced to a crawl.

It cannot turn fast enough to mark a target. The Speed and Turn Engine (Very Rare) and the Accelarator Console made little difference. I felt like "Driving Ms. Daisy in a congested highway!" By the time I did found a target every single ship had discovered my lame arse and opened up on me like the Narada. It really was a "Siege" ship, just never anticipated I'd be the one under siege. No wonder I don't see many of them around.

Also, because it takes a certain time for the primary weapon to come on line its effectiveness was marginal as the target either raced past me out of range or overshoots my "love boat" nearly evertime.

~ Sigh - should have gone with my gut, as I had already been dissappointed by the B'Rel and the Orion Marauder, both a waste of good money.

For a tac, yeah, you have no business going anywhere near this ship.

As an eng, however, I find the Marauder is fantastic, though if buying it off the C-Store had been the only way to acquire it, I probably never would have bothered, either.

I was hoping for the Garumba for a LTG token, but alas it costs 540 emblems..I mean really???...540 emblems?...sheesh...I dropped the idea of getting that ship right then and there. I would settle for a raptor with some sort of enhancement to either weapons or speed...or shields even...Not a battle cloak...it seems fine right now as it is...they'd take away hull, a BO slot, or something for that benefit.....Right now, I'm not in favor of modifying this pretty good ship for a BC.

I was a LT Gen ENG - My Negh'var was potent compared to this ship.

Potent in what way? Because frankly with a support build I'd much rather have the +5 bonus to all power levels and the extra ensign science skill than a third ensign engineering skill and bonuses only to weapons and engines, and I like having the hull strength of a cruiser versus a Varanus with greater mobility and more weapon slots than a carrier, while still having the ability to spawn some fighters.

The Marauder isn't a DPS machine by any means, but any Fed Star Cruiser captain could have told you that.

Unless of course you use 8 AP beam arrays on a cruiser...my engineer does that...but you are right not a real DPS machine....

This really bugs me too.

I play a Nausicaan, and I am annoyed by the oversight that you can use your free Lt.General ship token for the Orion Marauder, the Gorn Varanus... but NOT the Nausicaan Garumba Siege Destroyer?!

Marauder: Engineering Consoles, Cmdr Engineering BOff.
Varanus: Science Consoles, Cmdr Science BOff.
Garumba: Tactical Consoles, Cmdr Tactical BOff.

This annoys and offends me not just as a Nausicaan player, but a TACTICAL Nausicaan player. Hopefully Cryptic comes to their senses and makes the Siege Destroyer available with your Lt.General Ship Plaque.

Well, I broke down and bought the Seige Destroyer for the sole purpose of leveling a Nausicaan Tac officer. 1000 points really isn't that bad. Now I can use double XP bonus to level him to Lt. General, hopefully by tomorrow.

Considering the fact, that Cryptic decided to see the Garumba as the Counterpart to the Galaxy X this sadly won´t happen.

Probably.

But I agree with you.
