Since it's pretty much cosmetic you don't have to buy any of it. The current system is fine.

Agreed the system is fine how it is. I'm not rich by no means and I'm trying to make it month to month money wise. I saved up for a LTS and I think it was a good idea. It gave Cryptic some money that they could use to make more content earlier in the release then if they had to wait for monthly subs to come in. Content = Man Hours = Money, so extra content is like overtime, the devs have to get paid for the extra races and ships they make for us, on top of the main content they're already getting paid for. If the store wasnt layed out how it is with prices and such, we wouldnt be getting new toys to play with.

You can say that you're owed these items but you're not. You are owed what you pay for and you pay for the main content. If you want toys to play with, you have to pay for them. You pay a ticket for a plane ride. You buy coache class ususally right? it cost so much money. You get to your destination thats the point of taking the plane in the first place. If you want leather seats and a HD tv built into your chair then you pay more. People accept this, the airline has to pay for the leather seats and the TV's arent cheap. They also have to pay the flight atendants the money for comming to your beck-and-call if you ride 1st class. We accept this even though we envy thoes that get to have it. The game is the same way. If you can afford the C-store then you get the extra bells and whistles. Just like the airlines these days, Cryptic needs money to survive, and the airlines arent looking so good are they? The C-Store is a place for them to make extra money to put into more C-Items that we want. The prices may be over priced... and they may not. If its too rich for your blood then dont buy it. If it's worth it to you to get that extra bit of enjoyment, then by all means help yourselves. No ones is forcing you to pay for these items like you do the monthly sub. The idea of accummulating C-Points makes it pointless to even have the C-Store cost real money.

The only way I know of for getting free C-Points is by recruiting people to play the game. I've gotten the photonic tribble and bridge officer, 3 player titles, and the galaxy-x, over a month before it was released on the C. I didnt pay a cent for any of it. Oh and I got 400 C Points per person I recruited... I've recruited 8 people so far, most of them being trial players I've met starting a new toon, I explain the game to them while in the tutiroal area and convinced them to join. They've given me their emails and I sent them the inventation and they subbed. I got rewarded. You dont have to have friends or family orbiting you in order to recruit someone.

I think the items are priced correctly. I heard that some players pay an upwards of $400 to get the Galaxy-X when it was said it would "never goto the C-Store." They had to buy accounts, games, and subs and all the other stuff that comes with it. Then it hits the C and boy are people mad! Cryptic made it 2k C-Points to get but thats a fraction of what some people spent to get it. If you ask me, the Galaxy-X ought to be worth $50+ USD cause of the work some of us had to put into convinceing people and waiting, and thoes that actually spent real money for it. Then you wouldnt see 100 of them flying around and it would still be somewhat unique. Infact it shouldnt have gone to the C at all TBH. Anyways, I hope you see my logic in all of this. Also remember, the more money you give to Cryptic, the more extra content we can get. its a trade off.

I do agree some items are priced too highly for what they are worth. As a result, I never buy ship costumes, for instance. I have so far purchased all the uniforms and clothing, but some of those cost more than they are really probably worth. I wasn't forced, it was my choice. No one disputes that. They can charge whatever they want and people are willing to pay. I do wish some of the items were less costly or more were offered in bundles like the Enterprise bundle at a 20% discount.

Same here, i have pretty much all ot the costumes/uniforms, i have the ships costumes, i hvae a lot of stuff which was in hindsight wasn't really worth the money. Like the Dreadnaught. The ship was $25 for a ship that was supposed to be pretty bad ass, but after all the nerfing isn't any better then the way less expensive stuff. the weapons pack and a few of the single character uniforms (troi and 7 of 9) were way too expensive for what little you got.

Yes, i wasn't FORCED to buy any of this stuff, but at teh same time i'm COMPELLED to because i'm a huge Trek fan and Cryptic knows this and there for EXPLOIT it. So much so that every time a new item comes out my wallet gets an orange targeting reticle around it.

This thread may get locked for age... but

they didn't exploit you any more than Kellogs do when they sell you cereal.. just because you like cereal doesn't mean they exploit you by bringing out a great new brand with sugar and chocolate and everything you like and slap a sticker on it costing 10 euro... ^^

Looking back, I think I bought some items I didn't really need, and don't use - but like having the option to use. Strange.

In retrospect i Don't think that Buying Points in general is too expensive, but i think that it's the C-store items them selves that are too expensive. I have no problem with buying the points but it's when i go to spend them that i get frustrated with not getting my money's worth. For example the Dreadnaught. I love it. i own it. i like cruising in it. But after all of the nerfing they did, especially to the Phaser lance i just don't think it was worth the points. Same with Costume packs. They all seem evenly priced but at the same time most just have a Jacket or boots(section 31) while others (formal evening wear) have enough options to make it worth while.
