I heard about the new reward with the "Stranded in Space" mission, so I replayed it.
Same as before, though, I always have a problem with the last part of it.
I can handle the Orion Corvettes and the Interceptors together because, when I kill the Interceptors there, they stay killed, even if I respawn.
However...when I kill the Interceptors around the Marauder Battleship and I die and respawn...they come back.
One of the main reasons I kill the Interceptors first is because, this way, if they stayed killed, it's easier for me to wear down the Battleship, even, if it regenerates health after killing me, I can still do it.
But it's absolutely impossible [for me] to do that with six [or however many there are] little ships shooting at me from every possible angle.
I can't be the only one who's had a problem with this mission; I'd love some advice on what I could do. (that is, unless the devs decide to add a patch to that mission making sure that, when the Interceptors are destroyed, they stay that way).
The Marauder is releasing the interceptor fighters, try drawing them out of range of the Marauder and take them out. Reengage the Marauder once you get the fighters done, but watch for the release of more.
If you can't seem to get it, then either reduce your difficulty level (if applicable), or recruit some help. Heck, I'll fly with you!
i used Eject Warp Plasma from my cruiser, as a VA (I personally find BFaW completely useless, even with multiple enemies)
it worked wonders, slowing down the marauder and letting me strike only one shield, while taking care of at least half the fighters because they fly right into it and blow up in 5-10 secs
If ya in an escort ignore the fighters and go for the battleship first. After 5 seconds it should be dead.
If ya in a cruiser use beams. 6 beams and beam fire at will plus attack pattern beta.
If ya in a science ship use scramble sensors and gravity well.
All these should kill your battleship fast. If you like post the setup of the ship you currently fly and we try to finetune it a little bit for more effectiveness.
Oh yes one thing before I forget. I had this once and wondered why the enemies didnt die......do you have your shippowers set for max. weapon power? You know there where you can switch the powerlevels to weapons / shields / engines and aux.
Actually, I am, which makes me all the more pathetic, I guess. hehe :p
Although I am Vice Admiral 1, so maybe that's got something to do with it.
even with it scaled up the final fight takes about 20 seconds.
forget the fighters. they dont do any damage of significance. just blow the main ship up as fast as you can. if you cant complete this on normal then something is wrong with your build or the mission has bugged out. if you have no trouble with the rest of the game, then this fight should not give you any problems either. check your equipment and power levels.
