The C-Store (and soon to be emblem) Oberth has been updated to 2409 standards, so it's obviously different to the old model. However, there really aren't many of them flying around in game as they are more of a vanity ship, so a ship costume option for the old style Oberth wouldn't go a miss.
i didn't say the ingmae Oberth is bad or anything, but there is allways room for improvement (this is the Art section right?) and John Eaves just posted new pics on his Blog of the original movie Model (which he found sitting arround at ILM or something), so here you got some fresh Resources to go by.
...maybe there is a red line missing or something that wasnt visible before.
the front hull looks a bit more silver... well you get the idea.
Beat me to the punch in noticing the Oberth photos on John Eaves blog.
Seems Capt just needs to do some minor tweeking, like adding the silver dome at the bottom of the saucer and the deflector notch with the canoe. (Haven't played with the Oberth model since it was on Tribble to double check).
Nice find. Thank you for sharing it. I always did enjoy the variety of styles presented for starships in ST: II and III. Designers were forward thinking that far back in Trek productions. It let us know it was okay for a Starfleet starship to break barriers. If one searches further, they will find study models for Excelsior. If I recall correctly, one of them had nacelles similar to Oberth. We might have seen a whole new Starfleet based purely on that aesthetic.
