# 1 Science for a Tac?
06-15-2011, 10:43 PM

Please don't advise me to fly a cruiser or an escort 1st of all as a Tac. I have a VA Tac in an Escort and a VA Tac in a cruiser already. I'm working my 3rd Tac up the Science ship route and just want some friendly advice on what ship would be best at VA for a Tac.

I had a mess around on tribble and I love the look of the Deep Space vessel but obvisouly it doesn't have that extra Ensign Tac slot like the Recon ship does.

I may go for the Intrepid Retrofit if the special ability is that good. I won't fly the Nebula because I don't like the design and it turns so slow and won't fly the Vulcan ship as it's not starfleet lol. I'm spec'ing towards 2x DBB and 1x Quantum up front, 2x Turret and 1x Quantum Aft.

It's working so far at lower levels.

So any Tacs out there who fly Sci and can advse on Recon, Deep Space or Intrepid Retro once I hit VA? I'm primarily using Tac skills of High Yield 1 and Beam Overload.

The RSV will let you throw in a Tac Team on top of HY1 and BO2 which will boost your survivability to some extent. Not to mention, the RSV turns faster than a DSSV. Haven't really played with the LRSV-R.

I was thinking that Tac Team 1 in the Ensign would be a good idea. It's such a useful skill for managing your shield distribution.

I'm not overly keen on the design of the Recon but it could grow on me. Shame we can't swap the slots and give the Deep Space the Ensign Tac slot lol.

I've put the RSV thru is paces on my VA tac and found its a monster! (for a sci-vessel anyway)

The design back a year ago put me off from trying it until the last month of playing, then I got into the designer, got the extra skin, and found a nice, compact version that got me going, 'whoa, thats one heck-of-a ship'.
Turn rate is awesome, allowing you to keep your DBBs and forward torps firing most of the time, the turrets in the back, along with a cannon scatter volley is just..interesting to say the least
