Essentially, this thread is "I want a pwnmobile". Those stats are way, way OP. TWO universal slots on top of the rest? And 4 weapons at each end of an escort? Not even fleet escorts have that.
The Defiant R works, and works well. There are more modern skins for it if you feel it's to 24th century for you. Also, Cryptic's hinted at the possibility of doing somethign with the Akira, so I think if Starfleet gets a new ship it'll be a retrofit of that, along with the new Enterprise they're also getting, and the Ambassador.
If they make a new escort, it should be KDF, since they have far fewer options for escorts already. Garumba Siege Destroyer and Qin Heavy Raptor. BoPs aren't really specialised enough to consider escorts, though they can fill that role to an extent.

not really, while I can see the arguement as presented, a LOT would have to change in the game to accomidated such a vessel.
Should the vessel be entered in as is, in the current format? I belive i disagreed with that.
Could it be entered in later? sure, but game mechanic would have to change.
and Yes, I would expect a ship on both sides that would solve alot of issues. Anytime a ship comes out on fed, there is a equal ship out on KDF.
Has cryptic named any current starship on either side. A starship or class of starship for the current time period.
For all we know. We all are playing with starship or in classes of starship at least 25 years old.
The newest starship classes on the Federation side are the Sovereign, the Promethus and The Luna.
The Olympic and the Galaxy Dreadnaught are soly from all good things and the STO add ons aren't canon

What does a starship from the 25th century for either the KDF or the Starfleet look like and how are they set-up as a Science, Escort or Cruiser.
My Defiant outlined earlier. Maybe underpowered and undermanned for a starship of the 25th century.
Also, I picked the Defiant to be fan redesigned. Because DS9 is going to have it's 20th ann. in 2013 and it would take time during next year to have the contest and pick the winner and have said picked design in game by then.
I also agree that their needs to be a KDF starship chart on the home page.
As well as a fan design contest to redesign a more upto date version of the BOP and the K-7 type cruiser as well
I think the both CBS/paramount and Cryptic are afraid to design and approve starship designs for the 25th century. Because of how powerful they might have to be and how powerful the enemy starships of the 25th century might be as well.
Take a look at the Galaxy class of STNG and compare that to the Constituation of TOS and the Enterprise of the early star trek movies and that is about and 80 years difference.
Then compare the galaxy to the sovereign and that is about a difference of 10 years at most.
To be frank, there's no need to replace the "ageing" Defiant just yet, as it would only recently have recieved its final refit; the first would have incorporated the technological advancements from the Vigilant project, and the second as part of the Gallant rollout. Considering that the Gallant is a ten year old design, and that a refit can add anywhere from fifteen to thirty years of new life to a class(look at the Miranda and Excelsior, the latter of which is a bad example ingame IMO since it shouldn't be an endgame ship by any stretch), the Defiant class has a few years of life in her yet.
I do wish they would include a "head" that's somewhere between the Defiant and the Gallant in the customisation options; you can almost update the Defiant with the addition of the Gallant nacelles and the right texture, but it still looks a little too much like the original for my tastes.
Do we know when the gallant and the vigilant projects took place. I'm guessing that the Defiant class needs a total make over.
Because a monohull small escort/battlecruiser is the Starship you send into places to get the lay of the land so to speak and be able to punch it way out of most traps. That might be waitting.
