What I need to know is the exact regen rate.
Does anybody out there have numbers?
How many hitpoints does it regenerate in 1 second?
Are you planning on the VA version or the LC7 version? I would suggest the LC7 version first as practice before taking on the VA version. To get into the LC7 instance, you will need a ferry (someone who is between LC7 and LC10 in level). Team up with that person, and have the person start the instance by talking to the entity. Then, the other players on the team can enter. Once they are in, the ferry can break team, leave, and bring others in.

Defeating the LC7 entity is not difficult. You need only 6 escorts with CSV. (My fleet has done it with this, so yes it can be done). Have all ships huddle close together, and move to within 6-7 km. (Circling the entity does NOT work). Make sure no ships get closer than 6 km. If you get too close, you will not have time to destroy the fragments. This will require some ships to reverse engines from time to time. With this setup, it should go down within 3-5 min. This is a proven method. We were able to get everyone that participated the first place trophy (yes, that means we beat that thing multiple times in a row).

As far as regen rate, I do not have specific information on that. But it heals whenever a large fragment damages a ship, it heals it. I think each fragment heals it for 1%. That is why you need the splash damage from CSV to kill the fragments.

EDIT: 6 VA level escorts with CSV would be the minimum requirement for the LC7 instance. Of course more ships would be better.

Yeah, that last part i know, only it's not enough for a large frag to collide with anything to heal the main entity. the three small fragments that return to the main body heal it.
I think there are two ways to deal with this.
Eitehr everyone devides his fire on entity and fragments with AoE attacks or you get cruisers/scis to keep sustained (no spike) damage on the entity. Spike damage would spawn more fragments in a shorter amount of time. and the escorts turn the fragements into dust.

Using the method I mentioned above, you don't need to worry about the fragments, as they are destroyed before reaching any ships. The key is for the escorts to bunch together, target the entity, and spam CSV. You can stagger it so that that 3-4 escorts start off with CSV, and the other 3-4 ships starting it 15 sec later. The splash damage from CSV is enough to kill all fragments if you stay in the 6-7 km range (too close, and the fragments will get you. Too far, and you don't do enough damage). Tac officers using tac initiative will help.

I would even go so far to say that even if you are not specced for escorts, that you get one, and just use common DHC or DC.

We won. After 3 hours it got bored and left...
This is something I did not know about the CE.
There is actually a 3 hour cap for fighting it. Then it suddenly resets completely to it's original spawn point with full health.

So did you actually kill it? Or do you "win" if it resets after 3 hours? That just seems crazy amount of time it takes to kill it. When we did it, we killed it 7 or 8 times over a span of about hour and a half (it takes 5 min for it to respawn after dying).

No win, just a reset. We did the no cheat zone at max level though.
