I have room for one and only one defensive engineering console on my latest build. So which one will keep me alive longer? Neutronium alloy or the Field generator? The consoles I'm looking at are the craftable Mk XI blues.
The ship is a fleet escort with a full aegis set, flown by a VA tac captain if that helps.
shield gen every time, if you fly a fleet escort you can do both. On my cruiser i run 2-3x 18% neutronium consoles and a shield generator. But if you have to chose just 1, then by far the shield gen as most people rely on shield heals and cap x3 shields.
In my experience with the Aegis I would suggest going with a Sheild generator due to the slow regeneration time of the sheild and the already stacking resistance buff you get with the full aegis set.
I like the field generator. A 35% bonus to shield capacity is definitely worth a console slot. Well, I mainly like them because I can craft them and sell them for 250k all day long.
