Been reading through the Destiny 3 party series by David Mack, which if taken as some sort of canon, changes things tremendously for Trek Online and our Borg problems; however; I'm curious to know, who would you say serves Trek better? Pocketbooks and their expanding universe of stories from the Trek Universe? Or CBS and it's current assets? Why?

while Cryptic has the option of taking in elements from the books, which are soft canon, they can also choose to disregard them entirely
in fact, that's why the borg are like they are now, because the events of the Destiny books haven't been put in-game

I think this actually would be more fitting in Ten Forward because it's not exactly related to the game.
