Okay, I admittedly had problems with this one and tried my best to make the most evil, morally-unlikeable character physically possible. He's supposed to be the stark contrast of normal Arachnidus, who is based off how I see myself, as are all the characters (for example, Mark is based off my best friend, and we're pretty much opposites in many ways).
Mirror Arachnidus has a girlfriend (and while Normal Arachnidus does too, his relationship is far more...Dax/Worf than, say, Mirror Kirk and every girl within five light years), is morally dubious(at best), practically skirting the line between a bigoted nationalist and rational human being, and takes Arachnidus' normally laid back command style to the point of practically abandoning ranks and just being a general baddie to everybody.
I had trouble trying to find ways to show how opposite the Mirrorverse characters are from the normal verse, particularly with my character. I felt really, really odd writing about how he's basically planning on killing a bunch of innocent Jem'hadar and Vorta just because he can (and wants to get some with his conn officer), and the only thing holding him back is his best friend and first officer, who, in the normal STO/ST universe, would be the more aggressive(yet still, holding to Starfleet principles, humanitarian) member of the senior staff.
And not for nothing, because I know this is a family friendly board and all and the censor is there for good reason, but it makes writing a Mirrorverse story fairly difficult; these people are ruthless, brutal and utterly opposite of all the ideals we hold. The very fact that we have a censor is proof of that, we're proper and we use obscenity in only the most extreme cases (generally), whereas the Mirrorverse uses it in a sincere, derogatory manner as common course. Then again, I am a child of the Nineties; if it doesn't have some type of slanderous cursing in it, I feel a little off put.
I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did the challenge of writing it. It's not my finest work by any measure, particularly since I wrote I just finished it at 2:11 AM, but still. Good luck to anyone else that may be joining in, I look forward to reading your entries .
i had been creating a larger story with my character tanar, so that each challenge continues the story. i thought about doing it here as well but it would push the plot to beyond breaking point, so ill leave it fo this one and just concentrate on this individual story.
i have also used a klingon character in challenge 1, and as my fed guy is a cardassian they would both work for the alliance , so i thought have having my two captains working on the same side, being all evil.
I have one, my captian looking glass counterpart is a glory hog. All he wants to do is serve the cause but unlike some of the other captians of the past history he keeps his ship spartan like in its apearence and fuctioning. In this story the Terran Rebels are on there feet but quickly losing ground. Sending Captian Walker on a mission to recover the where abouts of the mass graveyard of ships that the Alliance has kept. Walker has his own agenda, he wants the one ship that could stop the alliance in its tracks.
