I'm not looking forwards to the inevitable Dabo-grind to make a Q-ship for the Transport Raid PVP.

I think going so far as to name your character as an NPC is cheap though. Really cheap.

Isn't this easily rendered useless by letting the game display title and fleet of the player? Unless those guys are so devious not to set a title and stay out of fleets!

I'm not sure but do they count as enemy NPCs? If yes it is pretty easy to turn off the display of them.

Yes, at least one of them has done exactly this - remained fleetless, and not set a title.

True, that's a good suggestion.

Unfortunately, this doesn't remove the problem when you target them, you can't easily tell whether you have nd NPC targetted or not, from their health bar. It looks practically identical.

Easiest way to be certain is to right click on their health bar, which tells you whether they have a player handle or not. Bearing in mind that tactical officers are constantly one shotting with close range shotguns, any sort of delay like this very often means you and your team mates are instantly incapacitated.

It is possible to set the HUD options to treat NPCs and PCs differently, e.g. not showing the name or not showing the targeting reticule. That might help. I use that in Space PvP to get a little less visual clutter from mines and pets.

Yup. Did this awhile back and it works great in space. I have yet to touch ground combat.

I've been seeing someone at Qonos lately with a Liberated Borg named "Tactical Drone." I do a double take whenever I see him.
