Had been away from the game for almost 6 months and just came back to check out season 4 and get back into it. I got into the Deferi missions with my Lt. Cmdr ENG captain and had a few questions about the Transphasic Cluster Torpedo reward.

It looks like it scales with level, but do points in either starship projectiles or starship mines effect this weapon? I'm assuming points put into starship mines would.

Just from toying around with it at the Lt. Cmdr. level, it seems like this could be a fun and somewhat effective weapon for later in the game when I have more weapon slots, possibly as a rear torpedo replacement, at least in PvE. I've been playing with it now to see how I like it, but with only 4 weapon slots, I'd rather keep a beam bank or quantum to be more effective.

Thoughts from anyone who has used this at later stages in the game? It seems like it's one of the more effective rewards you can get from doing the Deferi/Breen missions.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I checked around on search and couldn't find anything for it.

There are several skill that benefit this weapon.

Right Click the icon, and select info. In the dialouge that appears, scroll to the bottom to see the specific skills.

Alternatively look here: http://www.stowiki.org/Breen_Transph...luster_Torpedo

The Transphasic Cluster Torp is fun to play with for a week or two, until you realize that, even with max skills and high level consoles, the cluster torpedo does less damage than if you replaced it with almost anything else.
This is due to the fact that mines are underpowered, and transphasic weapons in general are underpowered. Put them together and you have a fairly cool idea (the cluster torpedo) that is badly implemented (transphasic).

I'd like to see more cluster torps, but different flavors.

They do seem a bit underpowered, but do come in handy if you can get one off with multiple shield facings weakening or down. Just thought it might be a fun weapon to use later on when I have a lot more weapon slots, a situational type thing.

Yeah, a very situational weapon. I run my with my shield ripper build on my Science Ship. And I have used them on my fighter (take it into the vault and all those Scorpions that cause problems for you...go bye bye.)

You know, I had fun with my fleet escort using transphasic cluster torpedo and dispersal pattera beta III in conjuction with tractor beam. You hold your target, then deploy 32 mines on top of his head
