I'll say , but for the most part, we're not brutish animals over it!

There will be times, OP, that you will get roflstomped (been there, done that) and when you sit back and think on it, there wil be nothing more you could of done different to eek out a win. Get some feed back from the opposing team, chances are they will be in the OPVP channel. Your build will only take you so far.

Welcome to the fold.

Yeah, even after daily pvp for the last 7 months I still feel like supanoob. Building the ships is great fun, min/maxing abilities ect.... It's the darn piloting and teamwork that hang you up the most. Especially me.

As for a sciscort? All the advice above is great. Just be sure that you use dampening field and Sci fleet and fly fast unless you are alpha'ing or going for a strong second pass. Half impulse works for me, a quarter impulse for some. But get used to changing speeds to maximize distance and timing on target in regards to your pretimed and lass second buffs.

See you on the battlefield.

Yeah, I've been focusing on managing and adapting my speeds as necessary, and working on my maneuvering to figure out what works best. Maneuvering at high speeds is probably my biggest challenge so far. I've gotten fairly decent at being able to survive... popping Evasive, ramming, eating a engine batt, and shifting power to engines/shields... unless I'm being focused by the entire group, in which case I usually go down, especially in PuGs which is all I've been playing so far. I don't mind dying though, it happens, so long as I'm actually contributing.

I did manage to purchase a BO III which I have equipped and I'm liking it a lot so far. I'm also running Target Engines III as well, which tends to come in handy, though I'm wondering if Target Shields, or perhaps Beta or Delta would be better slotted there. In any case, I have been noticing a decent amount of improvement. Still flying my Advanced Escort, though I'm even more tempted to just go ahead and get the MVAM given the discount weekend we've been given.

Sorry for the double post but also yeah, never underestemate the power of beam target whatever 3. You have to spec into ops, sensors, and sensor array to maximize on them. Which depends on the build may me costly, and may not be.

A lot of the better players react quickly to targeted systems and can overcome what is being thrown at them. But a ton of people still struggle with that, as sometimes a weak energy syphon and target shields 1 can totally disable their shields. I mean they drop. Gone. Target 3 can drop your target up to about 75-90 power points if I am not misstaken, someone correct me there if not so.

A Target Subystem: X 3 caps out at about 73 drain, IIRC.

It may be possible to get it higher with SciTeam/SciFleet, but I think I remember it capping out near ~73. Though, I have no idea for sure.
