Tactic: Defensive / Offensive
Description: A technique for neutering and destroying escorts. Works great in pugs but requires greater teamwork in premades. Combines a powerful shields strip with a debuff and a nasty repel.
Intrepid R with 2x2 tet beams and 1x1 quantum torps. Sci captain.
Pre-load High yield 2
Switch to full aux and wait to reach cap
Pop Engine battery + Evasives
Sensor Scan on target followed by Sci Team (Sci fleet also an option) and TBR2 (max ~15k hull damage)
Tachyon Beam 3 + CPB3 while pushing with TBR for a ~9.5k shield drain this also serves to push the escort well out of healer ranger
Just before the TBR runs out, Beam target shields, fire off HY2, by which time HY1 should be off GDC, turn and let it out your rear
By the time the target stops moving they should have no shields and a sweet 5 torps heading their unshielded way. On at least one occasions I managed to get off HY2, HY1 and a regular torp for a total of 6 torps on target already damaged by TBR. Apply Sub-Nuc as required to kill any heals they try to pop.
It has the downside of using up all of your offensive skills in one though, but it sure is fun when it works.
Ok a bit of a cheeky one here, but had to post it because I laughed my *** off when I did it by accident. But involves the same build above.
1) TBR + Engine battery + Evasives is MORE than enough to push a target from the Sensor array all the way back to your home base. They will get caught by your bases tractor turrets and blown to bits.
2) TBR someone right under the shipyard and push them upwards until they hit it, they will not be able to move, and your TBR will continue to pound them against the hull of the shipyard. Acts almost like a tractor beam but with oodles more damage. It works well there because the underside of the shipyard is flat, and people get stuck there quite often without even trying.
