As for Borg gear, I have my console and engine so far, still need to get the deflector.
The Borg Deflector is pretty useful for Scis (especially in non-Sci ships), thanks to the +5 Aux for free, further boosting your Sensor Scan/SNB/Dampening Field.

I just wanted to say, since I haven't seen it said so far, for a relatively new player, I am VERY impressed with the OP's understanding of the game, and his choice in powers. Most "noobs", and I do not mean to be pejorative to the OP, make much worse choices.

Kudos to you sir. I expect you to quickly rise to the ranks of at the very least, a decent PvPer.

For the record @ the OP, my Tac Defiant R *currently* runs:

Tac team 1 | Attack Pattern Beta 1 | Cannon Rapid Fire 2 | Cannon Rapid Fire 3
Tac team 1 | Attack Pattern Beta 1 | Beam Overload 3 |
Target Engines 1

Emergency Power to Shields 1 | RSP 1
(I previously ran 2x EPtS, and frankly, might go back to it. If I were in a good premade though, I would prob switch that out to 2xEPtW)

Hazard Emitters 1 | Transfer Shield Strength 2
(I used to run polarize hull because it has a massive resist, but I just needed something to heal myself too so switched to HE)

3xDHC/1xDBB
3xTurrets
All disruptor

Quickly, regarding procs, honestly do not expect them to be a game changer. They are so minimal in many cases they are almost impractical to use effectively. That said, 2 stand out for me, disruptors and antiproton. Disruptors grant a -5% damage resist if I remember correctly? I consider this a good team proc, as it helps out everyone if your mutual target gets squishier, where as antiproton only helps you. Disruptors are also CHEAP, allowing more points in other areas.

I think the tac skill choices aren't all too uncommon, some will opt for High Yield Torpedo 3 in place of BO3. I understand their reasons. The extra ensign slot is also up for grabs I'd imagine. I also used to run 2xCRF1 and ATB 2/3 instead instead of the ranks above. I'm honestly not sure which is better. Perhaps our cohorts can comment on that one.

I'm not the best survivor, I will be totally honest, although some of that may just be due to me , but the damage potential is very high, and I have instagibed a great number of ships, from escorts to carriers. BO3 alone can rack up ~40k damage. That is more than the total hull of everything sub cruiser. Combined with CRF2/3 and it is great. CRF takes down the shields, BO3 takes down the rest. I will of course give the caveat that any seasoned player should survive that unless they have fallen asleep at the helm. Noobs go bye bye every time.

Never forget that this is a team game Your team mates are the trickles of straw on the camels back, you are the bale.

I was using HY3 before I was able to get my hands on BO III, and while it was pretty fun to be able to unload 4 torpedos into an enemy, with all of the shield healing going around, it was always pretty difficult to land it into an exposed hull. It happened every now and then, but not often.

My thoughts are similar about Disruptors. It seems like they have a pretty decent debuff effect which is fairly long lasting, comparatively speaking. I don't see many people using them though. I see a lot of mention about AP, which I understand, and Polaron--I don't get why Polaron is so popular though. I mean, I could understand why it would be ideal for certain builds which perhaps emphasize power drain, but for others the proc doesn't seem all that great. Perhaps it's because of the in-game modifiers attached to Polaron weapons? (Acc/Damage/Crit and such?)

It's unfortunate that the Plasma DoT isn't very powerful... I think a DoT build could be pretty interesting to play with as a 'Sciscort' (lol, I like that term). Tetryon seems like it could be fairly useful, as getting through shields and all the shield healing seems to be the biggest hurdle to overcome in a PvP match.

Thanks for the comments

Yep, Polarons are pretty spiffy for Tacs since you can combine APA's CrtH boost with Polaron DHC's cheap CrtH x2. I think there's even a [CrtH]x2 [Acc] version, which is just full of awesome. You seriously just see Crit after Crit after Crit.

My current sciscort build I've been playing around with has been entertaining.
Its a sensor/sensor array heavy build with a tachyon deflector array with +50 sensors
And +34 sensor array. My sensor stats sit at 84 and sensor array is at 111. Taking advantage of
That I'm using target engines thre and target shields three stacked with science team 2. Torps high
Yield 2 and BO 2, plus the tac teams. Subnuke adds icing to that cake.

Well I bought the MVAE tonight, put the console in the AE I've been flying to get a feel for how it works before I start thinking about a build for the MVAE... And it's gone pretty great so far, I really like the Multi Vector mode, even if it does take a console spot, it's fun.

I'm really liking the BO loadout on the AE though, so I'm not sure if I'll even switch to the MVAE, though some of those LtCmd Science abilities still look pretty interesting. But Target Engine 3 is working pretty good, especially for when people try to escape to go heal up, blow their engines, subnuke their buffs and heals, and they go boom.

I'm noticing my DPS isn't front loaded like a lot of Tac Escorts (usually BoP or Defiant-R) I've been running into, which was expected, but with Multi-Vector mode and my innate science abilities, I feel like I can chip away at them pretty well regardless without getting blown up too fast. My only issue at this point is every BoP I come across seems to like to unlock, alpha, and stun me with PSW which is getting kind of annoying... sometimes it feels like there's literally nothing I can do against that.

I switched from full Aegis to Aegis shield + Borg Engine/Console/Deflector.

A lot of times, you can hear the BoP buffing up before decloaking. Or, you have around a second or so after they decloak before the Shockwave hits you (there is travel time from the user to you); these are the perfect times to pop a TacTeam.

Mercy? What is this ideal you speak of? Hey when I broke into PvP the Like Minimax, Koh, and Blackjack never showed me mercy, unless of course if your definition of mercy is handing my aft facing to me time after time. Then I guess they showed me a lot of mercy. If it was good enough for me it is good for anyone willing to partake in PvP.

I kid..ok maybe not but good luck and hope to see you in combat.

Just saying that all of us who frequent these parts of the forums won't stop firing until the other guy's dead. We would expect no less if the situations were reversed. Giving the new guy fair warning that -just like the pvp matches- these forums won't cut you any slack
