For the Record: The Yeager was a kitbash of the Intrepid and a Maquis Raider:

Not the Peregrine Fighter.

That said. Though it's 'ugly' or 'hideous' or 'makes your eyes bleed and causes Star Trek nightmares by its very /presence/!'. I'll have to go with no on this one. Though the Yeager is a canon ship (yes /ship/! Not a fighter.), It was as stated. A SCFE scrapyard design. That's an awful lot of incompatible systems being made to work together and all it'd take is one good hit, and the bugger's gone. Despite the fact that is /is/ so ugly kinda draws my attention.

well i guess that settles it. everybody hates it except me.

if it ever makes it in game then at least you will know who it is flying the ship as it passes by you.

Why all the love for "uglies" all the sudden?

As far as canon goes these ships were created from scraps, incomplete and damaged vessels to fill holes in the fleet during time of war. They wouldn't perform nearly as well as a dedicated ship design and would be fraught with problems resulting from incompatible equipment being used together.

As far as reality goes, the ships were created from spare parts in the special effects dept. to provide some on-screen variety without blowing the budget on a new design. That's because, even at the best of times, the ST TV series were pretty low budget. This was the time before convincing 3D models could be turned out with a few button clicks and many of the sets and props were recycled over the years.

*dies* The fact that it's so ugly is what has my attention to the Yeager. It's not a matter of me /hating/ the thing. It is a love or hate ship. And there's a lot of hate towards the thing. I'll be honest. If it does make it in game, I'll prolly fly it myself. The ship is one I don't hate, but I don't love it either. It's more.. 'I like it but not enough to go all in for it' kind of thing.

Now I would not mind seeing the Maquis Raider as a Tier 2 escort

As for the Yeager, I have the feeling that all canon classes will appear in game(STO will exist for a for years and they already added a bunch of ships). Some ships however, will have higher priority then others and the Yeager probably on the lower end of canon ships to bring.

I don't mind the Yeager, Cury, or even the Enkins.

Personally, if a starship class bearing the name of Yeager were to be added to STO I would much prefer it not be a kitbash (unless it's a stupendously good one), and would instead love to see a starship design that does the name of Yeager justice. As my grandfather was supposedly good friends with the class' namesake, I have a bit of a personal investment in the name of the ship class.

While I agree with no on the Elkins, I find the Challenger and Niagra more ugly. If you add those two, then you HAVE to add the Yeager.

I would suggest the Yeager as a Tier 4 escort with a different set of stats than the Defiant, somewhere in between the Intrepid and the Defiant.

I'm all for more ships, so maybe T2. Other than that, no.

The Yeager? No.

Out of all the Federation ships seen on the show the Yeager, in my opinion, is by far the ugliest of all. I understand why they started to do kitbash ships, it added more variety, but I don't know what they were thinking when they put together the Intrepid and a Maquis raider.

The one thing the Yeager has going for it, is that it was a kitbash of two Star Trek ships.. Not an Intrepid and an F-14 Tomcat like the Elkins. XD

And for a little added flavor they added the warp nacelles of the Miranda Class
