I'm curious if heals are simply fixed values based on the associated skills you've leveled that impact them? or are they percentage based? Just asking because i'm leveling up an engineer and plan on maxing out cruiser ship skills but may still want to tool around in escorts for giggles. I know the ship skills increase turd rate.....surely i meant turn rate for cruisers. Hull and Shields also get a bonus depending on your skill selection. Does the overall hull/shield capacity of the ship in anyway effect hull/shield healing abilities or are they fixed?

If fixed then i wouldn't be to concerned with maxing cruiser skills for when i want to fly a cruiser as they need allthe help they can get with turn rate where as even a base line escort will still be fairly maneuverable. I know that the escort with no skills would be more prone to spike damage, but i can live with that if not having the escort piloting skills has no impact on my ability to heal the ship. I'm leveling an engineer if that matters in the least

thanx for any information.

i ask this assuming aux power is at the same value for each ship as i know that aux power level changes the amount of the healing, but i'm unsure of the healing being a percentage value of your hull/shield capacity or just a fixed value

Your ship skills only make you turn faster and take damage better.

You can click on the drop down menu in the top right hand corner of the skill tree and see what skills boost specific abilities.

Healing is primarily affected by skills in the Engineering and Science trees, SCI and ENG consoles, AUX power level and Sci Team / Eng Team.

thanx for the reponse, kinda what i thought. so ship skills only effect turn rate and give you a bit better ability to not die from spke damage.

Well... not really. Ship command skills don't affect healing skills UNLESS those skills heal a specific percentage of your total hull. What the ship command skills do is to raise your maximum hull in that vessel AND any vessels of the same type at higher tiers (i.e., the Cruiser Captain skill grants 50% of its bonus to Heavy, Exploration, Assault, Star, and Refit Exploration Cruisers). So, if you have something that will heal 20% of your max hull, then yes.

But, so far as I know, no healing skills do that.

Correct, no heals are based on a percentage, they're all based on skills and sometimes Aux power.

Ship skills increase your turn rate, speed, hull strength, and maximum shield capacity.
