I normally only pick up the occasional stand-alone Trek novel, but lately I have been thinking about picking up one of the multi-book series. The Vanguard series specifically sounds pretty nifty, any opinions on it?

p.s. i refuse to read the destiny books, what they did to the borg just sounds lame.. lol

I've read the first book, was somewhat good. Personal taste wise I think the author drags a bit. Some people love it, but for me it was a slow read.

What they did to the borg was great, it ended the over use of them and the story weaves thru all the characters still alive and has lots of things going on in it.

Vanguard was good, I need to re read the first few books, but it has some interesting new characters and having it in a TOS setting is a nice departure from most of the other new trek offerings out there.

I've finished all but the newest of the Vanguard books. It's been a great series (it has Tholians, it has to be great).
