Pretty much yes, but I don't want to rely on the shields completely and have nothing to protect my hull.. my new setup on Boff's is

Commander Engineer
4>Aux to Structural III - Hull Heal and Hull Damage Reduction
3>Engineering III - Hull Heal and Ability buffs
2>Reverse Shield Pol - Reducing all energy damage to shields into shield power.
1>Emergency to shields - Shield energy buff and Heal

LT Commander Engineer

2>Reverse Shield Pol - Reducing all energy damage to shields into shield power.
1>Emergency to shields - Shield energy buff and Heal

LT Science
2>Feedback Pulse I
1>Hazard Emitters I

LT Tactical
2>Beam - Target Weapons II
1>Beam - Fire at will I

En Tactical
1>Beam - Fire at will I

Why not another Engineering Buff? I want to be able to use my Science Team 100% of the time to keep my Hazard and Hull/Shield regens up.

Also switched my Tactical skills around to allow me to have

2x Beam - Fire a will - AE management
1x Beam - Target weapons - Damage reduction

I might however do the opposite, depending on the situation and encounter.

Its a well thoughtout post, but really... Tanking in PvE consists of fitting Borg set, 2 EP2S and run 125 shieldpower - Then hit spacebar every 2 seconds, and a Hazards1 every time bleedthrough hit 10% of your total hull.

Awesome, very informative and it seems to be thought through nicely. I am interested in trying tanking when I get to VA myself. Could you add what you use for power settings too? I've read some people use 25/75/25/75, and was wondering what you use

If you want to actually kill something, always run with 100+ weapon power, unless you really know what you are doing and flying a science vessel.
100 Weapons, 50 Shields, 25 Engines and 25 Auxillary will work fine. if you have mostly science heals, reverse the shield and aux setting.
