But at a minimum, we need the increase to 67.5 so DHCs no longer have a blind arc you can't fire into.

That said, the risk of increasing the angle is that you make people flying high and up becomes more likely. As long as there is a special axis in this game, it will always be advantagous to maximuze your angle of flight there if you want to evade enemies.

As someone who had a beamer cruiser intentionally try to use the Z-axis against my cannon equipped BoP in PvP yesterday I have to agree. I was able to get around the issue but still seeing someone try to exploit cannons weakness in the Z-axis so blatantly was a little irritating. Felt real good to pop him though. I mean really good.

Any kind of movement in the game as far as positioning goes (besides distance to target) unfortunately means SFA due to tactical team.

Although the change in cannon firing arc would be nice.

As far as speculating on changes that will never make it into game, How bout making so once you pass a certain angle of inclination, instead of tilting any further your ship just moves up and down the Z axis but at a much slower rate (like we see in Star trek 2 with the enterprise moving up and down in the nebula), than say a normal 15 degree climb .

This would solve the atheistic problem while still allowing 3d movement and slowing the rate of climb up the Z axis

So if you actually wanted to get away from your target quicker you should only bank your ship no more than 15 degrees up or down from the Y axis, or it starts to move up the Z axis slower.

The limitation would only effect cruisers / carriers and sci ships. Fighters , shuttles and escorts could all have full 3d movement no limitations (no really an issue due the the 360 fire angle of beams on non escorts)
