Take a look into the c-store and explode.

What I find most interesting about this is that they actually chose to delay the launch, under the illusion of it perhaps being as a result of people's feedback. But since they didn't say anything about it, people assumed it was because they were working on it - but a week passed, and still they said nothing about it.

It appears the week delay was simply to push it into a patch with the other FW-related changes, or else they didn't really take a look at it, at all.

So much for more transparency in the development process.

Tier 2 PvP. Think about it. Nothing you put in is gonna break the game cos nobody plays T2 PvP on Holodeck, or if they do then they do not for long cos its boring cos there is no counter to cloaks at that level.
Maybe you have missed that CapnLogan has designed new ships for both factions from Tier 2 to Tier 4, and that the devs implied that all ships will get the Rhode Island treatment.

How long until they figure out that this would also work for Tier 5? Especially with the Enterprise-F round around the corner. That ship has to be "special", after all...

I am not gonna pay a premium for things that dont give me an edge in the game. Right now the c-store is 90% junk and that needs to change.
Uniforms and Costumes are is not junk, It's pretty decent stuff if you're into the franchise.
Respecs, character slots, bo tokens and the like are also pretty nice.

The RI is a small step along the way to a healthy C-Store. More please.

I love when people make this argument. "It's only T2..." You're absolutely correct. The Rhode Island is in T2. It's actually better than T2 ships, but that's the tier Cryptic stuck it in, so technically it is T2. But the RI's sister ships which are to come out later will not be T2. They'll be T3 and T4. Dan has also alluded to the Ent-F having variants that will be in the C-$tore, so that takes care of T5.

It's Tiers 2-5. Think about it.

We'd be in luck if Cryptic was adding things that didn't tank their credibility. But they're not, so we're not.

What about other games like WOW that have expansions you buy so you can even access another part of the world. Those kinds of things seem more force-to-pay to me then an optional C-Store.
But when Cryptic offers obviously superior ships in the C-$tore in a game where PvP exists, those ships are no longer optional if you want to stay competitive.

The ships in the C-Store that give some console or innate ability are balanced and counter able by normal ships that come with the game.
The Rhode Island is not balanced at all. It is clearly superior to existing T2 ships, and it's a C-$tore item only. That's the perfect example of pay-to-win, in case you were confused. Somehow, I don't feel particularly lucky atm...

Dude, seriously? Way to misrepresent the issue.

The problem isn't new ships and powers. It's 1) ships with clearly superior BOff and console layouts that totally trash game balance at the tier their introduced in, and 2) those ships being C-$tore only items. THAT'S the issue.

Not any more. Now their is a ship that has an advantage great enough to make the pilot superior to the rest of the players. And it's a C-$tore only item. Starting to understand now?

Thoes kits give abilities that make ships much more powerful and resilient then any of the C-Ships. I think we can all agree on that.
Did you seriously just try to compare the Borg and Aegis sets, that are available in-game only, with a pay-to-win cash shop ship? Perhaps you don't understand the issue...

Maybe you could sue Cryptic for not upholding to unofficial contract bound and signed promises, none of which were made with any of us. In business, promises get broken all the time. Your promised a job for 5 years and you get laid off after 2 years...that something to be upset about.
When someone makes a promise (especially repeatedly) and then they break that promise it's usually wise to never trust them again. A recruiter promising you that you'd be in the Special Forces was lying to you to get you to join the military so he could make his quota. So what does Cryptic gain by lying to us about never putting game balance-affecting items in the C-$tore? They sure as hell don't gain player loyalty or trust, I can tell you that.

Not really sure where you think going above their heads is really going to have that great of an impact. Complaining at PWE is hardly going to phase anyone - have you read any of the boards for any of the PWE games? Lots of people complaining about lots of things all the time, and they usually don't pay it a second thought.

Besides which, dunno why you didn't just link to their actual website. >_>
