I've started a ENG captain and am curious - does anyone have any good advice or builds for a ENG class?

Well, what are you going to do with it?

Ground or space? PvP or PvE? Tank or damage? What ship/ship class do you want to use? What weapons do you want to use? etc...

Eng in an Escort.

It was my first build - still my favourite build.

Aim for the Fleet Escort (unless you REALLY want to fly a Defiant refit)

Lots of shield (including innate powers) and hull regens and good DPS makes this such a fun build..!

For me the beauty of Eng is the way it works in cruisers.

Beam Arrays and Turrets is all I need and that gives time to conentrate on using powers effectively.

Eng captain powers support the use of weapons with heavier drain and powers that support them. Facing becomes a case of keeping shields healthy and not about offense.

I dont see the point of stressing my build and playstyle with narrow arc wesapons and wasting console slots with turn rate boosters. Better to use those eng slots to boost power levels and a but of all round resist.

Thats just the way I play my Eng and its the fastest and easiest career to play through the game, for sure.
