High Ends level new toons too you know.

And yeah, I think they'll notice. I know I would, if I had an extra LT slot in a T2 ship and I'm sure the better scis than I am would too.

When the next 2.5 comes out (lets say it's an Escort for simplicity) That's Bo2, HY2, or a second Cannon Rapid Fire. Which is going to be absolutely huge.

For a 2.5 sci ship, that's TSS2, and Scramble, or, TSS2 and HE2. TSS2 and TBR1 etc.

More importantly, when T5.5 hits that's either an extra LT Cmdr slot, or god forbid a second Cmdr Slot on each ship. And I think we should all be honest, we all know a Tier 5.5 is coming.

High End PvP is Formula 1

The RI resides within Formula 3000 (or whatever it is called), it's there, it will be there for long... but no ones interested in it unless your part of it for the 2 Months or so...

Ah, good point. Yes, highly skilled players making alts will definitely notice an extra Lieutenant Power and an extra console for the hours of gameplay they spend at tier-2...

Actually, I don't think we all know that at all. But if it does happen and we do have T5.5, it will be long after they develop these 16 lower tier vessels with special consoles and so long after they develop a way to obtain the ships in game.

Yeah, we pretty much do know that. You take two comments made in the past and combine them with commentary being currently made and it's strongly suggested.

Comment 1: The post by GMDestera way back when outlining the levelling path the game was (and most likely still is) going to have. They plan to add in 10 more levels. Not anytime soon, but much like hair tech and exploration revamp, it's still on the list.

Comment 2: The Ask Cryptic way back when, where they discussed how they hadn't really figured out if they were going to do a T6 for ships.

That leaves ...

Tier 5.5. Because 10 more levels require most things that a whole new rank of levelling adds, including ship upgrades.

So being pragmatic ... it's really not a stretch to "predict" tier X.5 will have an affect on T5.

That's true, they could use something like tier 5.5 as a short fix for the need for character progression while they still figure out tier 6 and the next 10 levels. But that is, by itself, not a problem. In fact, Tier 5.5 can be made to work alot better than tier 2.5 just because the size of the game population at end game would make separating tier 5.5 competition from tier 5 competition a viable option.

The meaning of my statement was that we do not know what Cryptic will do or how they'll do it and to make predictions based entirely on a single case is.. a waste of time.

With Cryptic under new ownership, I am prepared to wipe the slate clean in terms of my opinion of Cryptic and STO's pros and cons.

But Dan if you are reading this, I would suggest that you go to the PW people and explain to them that this community is wound up tight enough to crap out diamonds over the lack of communication as to the road ahead. We have, as has been said by others, been told "soon" too many times.

The sale has been finalized. There supposedly going to be serious resources channeled into STO's development. Perfect World is not doing themselves, you guys at Cryptic or us any favors by sitting on the information.

Now is not the time to try to generate buzz and hype. Now is the time to pull beck the curtain and reveal what's going on. People are frustrated. They are on the verge of quitting. Some of them already have. I don't care what is in the C-Store... Those that are not playing will not be buying any of it.

So please. Beg the new Powers that Be to permit you to let the cat out of the bag. There is a difference in heavy anticipation and tense frustration. The tension in this community is so great that when it snaps, I fear that the amount of hatred that will be unleashed will rival that of the SWG community at the onset of the NGE to SWG. You do not want a mass exodus to hit STO. Before the content drought started, STO was just beginning to emerge from the shadow of negative press that has covered it since launch. The shadow has extended itself durring the drought.

It is time to let a light shine from within tat darkness and chase the shadows away. And you are the beacon from which that light will spring.

Please... Do not make us wait any longer for the answers.

the 'small' amount of time spent in that god awful tier, doesn't mean the ship is any less imbalanced.

And I don't think it will be long after. We're going to come to a point soon where cryptic is going to throw a whole bunch of **** at the wall to try and save themselves from being Buried by TOR.

Y'know, I'm not expecting TOR to be all that good.

But I finally realized TOR doesn't actually have to be good to compare favorably to STO.

Other than the lack of new mission content, we have actually overhauled quite a bit of the game in the last several months, and we've been working on a lot of new features that you are about to start seeing released.

So while it does take time to hire back up, things are going to happen faster than you speculate above. We have a big update planned for September and the Feature Series coming in October which will run through November, and then a quick Holiday before we get back to more content and features.

We've been meeting regularly with Perfect World and over the next several weeks I'll be sharing our plans and continuing to communicate as much as I can.

In the meantime, I'm working with the team to get the Borg stuff into gear because most of it was supposed to release this last month and most of it slipped way past schedule due to some internal issues.

I'm addressing those issues as fast as possible and getting things back on track so we can have a great Holiday season in STO.
Oooo ... I sure hope you have another Halloween themed episode like last year. That kicked butt!
