So they are making it so that only 5 ships can enter a single encounter. They also have it currently that teams are broken up so you can no longer garauntee 5 Vice Admirals in a single instance. Also VAs will be brought down to lvl 45 in all of the sectors where the borg are at lvl 45. This is so wrong. Borg cubes are hard to kill at every level. Being +6 to the borg boss isnt an advantage especially when there is only 5 ships. Cyrptic can never take the middle road they always have to go to the extremes. And this extreme makes the encounters impossible.
So I get a random team. 1 VA and 4 Cmdrs=Encounter Failed. This is not right. The developers have taken things too far once again. I like a good challenge but I dont like impossible. Once I was seeing the changes in the game with only 5 ships; I did 3 borg encounters and failed all 3 in the time alotted because my random team couldnt defeat the boss in time.
This is wrong and they should at least raise the cap to 10 ships or give us more time. And they need to fix the team issue so I can go in my team mates so i dont have to rely on lt cmdrs.

PLEASE Cryptic I beg you to correct this. Impossible isnt fun.

So you'd rather go in with 20+ people and outlevel and eventually faceroll the encounter?

No thanks, I'd rather go in with 4 people and coordinate attacks and actually use my bridge officer abilities instead of mashing the spacebar with my tongue.

They're the BORG, it's about time we started taking them seriously. I should get my *** handed to me.

besides, this game is easy in the first place, it's about time we had a little challenge (though i prefer easy, i still like a little challenge occasionally)

Technically, what we experienced tonight were bugs experienced last week on Tribble. Whether it was intentional to test further this way on the more populated server is anyone's guess. I dare say they got some serious data today.

These instances were never intended for mobs of 10+ Starfleet/KDF at one time. The changes you're bemoaning were in place on Tribble over the weekend and proved themselves for the most part. So now it's being pushed to Holodeck as well.

That isn't' say they won't tweak this further over many weeks to give it the oomph they hope for.

This does irk me slightly. I wish they'd just tank the hell out of the B'ger and triple the number of kills required to spawn it. That should keep things interesting even for entire fleets of 20+ ships.

Actually, they're fixing the Borg encounters: they were NEVER meant to have more than five people in them at a time... most certainly not the 40-50 some instances have seen.


Also, if you absolutely HAVE to have 5VAs to be able to do this, then you're doing it wrong. I was in one earlier that actually only had five people in it: 2VA ships, an Akira, me in a LtCmdr Connie, and LT in his NX class.

And we did it, mostly worry free. With the auto-leveling it gives you (which is fantastic), the only thing that changes mainly are higher leveled people have more BOFF powers... but honestly, it's more of a perk than a gamechanger in these. Held my on against Cubes in my alt's poorly designed Connie just fine and contributed to the team more than my weight. If you failed with one VA and 4 Commanders, it wasn't that the levels that mattered, it was the gameplay of the people in it.


Fact is, seems like you want it to be easy mode... personally, I think the Borg encounters are too easy as it is, and I LOVE the fact that a multitude of different ships and not just those at the very top can enjoy this event. And let's be honest: if they broke it up by ranks, it'd result in a lot of lower leveled people not being able to properly enjoy this event. Probably just have a lot of people raging that they're always the only Commander in the Borg encounters and they can't solo it.




Only way these things are impossible is if you aren't good enough for it, honestly. Again, even my Connie was more than up to the task. If the team isn't working, then it's because people are playing it poorly: figure out what the mistakes are and try to get them to correct it. Even 5VAs will struggle if no one takes care of the regen probes.

I am not convinced this will make a significant difference.

The Borg are not that hard to fight, and if you still got all your BO powers, the majority of your healing and damage potential is intact.

Yeah, I'm not sure this makes it harder. Me and 4 guys or less smoked the boss and regular Borg in different sectors. In fact one of our escorts was bursting the crap out of the Borg. I could barely do any damage before they were waxed.

its always meant to have been 5. the 20 man was a bug.

if players feel they are too low to enter them then dont enter them. the whole point of the timer is that you should not complete these by facerolling your keyboard every time.

this will make them more interesting and challenging. i applaud this move. if it makes it too hard they can always tweak things here and there.
