# 1 MVAE: Need Console Advice

Just picked up a MVAE (the c-store one) the other day and have begun experimenting with loadouts for it. To get a baseline, I carried over the weapons from my Assault Cruiser - Mark XI phaser DBBs (purple), Mark XI Arrays (purple) and 2 Mark XI QTs(purple). I know there is a debate on beams/cannons on MVAMs and Escorts in general, but I'll try this out first and see how it goes.

Where I'm getting stuck mentally is on the console layouts. I carried over 3 of my Tac consoles, leaving one Tac spot still open. I have no clue where to go with the Eng/Sci consoles. I know Escorts are a whole different animal than Cruisers, so the console needs are way different. I'm just not sure where to recenter my thinking when it comes to consoles.

Plasma Dist. Manifold Mk X (rare)
Plasma Dist. Manifold Mk X (rare)
Zero Point Quantum Regulator (purple)

*help needed, BUT, I'm going to be dropping the MVAM console, since I won't be using it hardly at all.

It really depends on your BOff powers and weapons. And power settings. And since we're talking MVAE, which section you normally fly.

If you have your weaponpower at max with Borg Console and +9 skill in weapon performance, you dont need to use any manifold.

Oh and you can use your mvam console on both the mvam, yes yes. But also on the Advanced escort which has a slightly different Bridge officer layout. Same ship otherwise.

Eng: 2x EptS
Sci: Hazard, TSS, and something else? You decide. :p

Tactical Consoles - 3 +26 to energy weapon type. 1 +26 to Quantum Torpedoes

Engineering - 1 EPS flow regulator. 1 Nuetronium Alloy

Science - Borg Console - Halon System(If you have HE), and +18 to Deflector field, if you have TSS.

Boff Abilities:

Eng:
EPtS 1
EPtS 2

Sci:
Polarized Hull 1
TSS 2
HE 3, or photonic Shockwave 1.

I recommend putting the universal console (mvam) and the borg console into sci slot for the MVAM as well as the Advanced escort. Get 3 Dual heavy cannons including 1 torpedo for the front and 3 turrets in the rear. I would use psw build (Photonic Shockwave). As sci'scort the mvam is even more *painful* since you have burst damage and a SBN at the same time.

For console setup I recommend using 4 prefire chambers tac consoles, 35% shield capacity console and 18+ all energy resistance console for eng consoles, 1 induction stabilizer to increase the effectivness of Transfer Shield Strength. Additionally you should get the subspace modulator to increase your damage resistance.

For boff layout i would go for

MVAM-setup:

Ens. Tac: HY1
Lt. Tac: TT1/AP Beta
Com. Tac: TT1/ RF1/HY3/RF3
Lt. Com Sci: ST1 or HE1/ TSS2/ PSW1
Lt. Eng: Epts1/2 (Rsp isn't a good choice since most the majority of players die because they have no shield buff. I noticed myself that i survive longer with 2 epts than having 1 rsp on an escort)

Photonic shockwave can be used 2 ways. First for an offensive attack to stun your opponent while his shields are down or to protect yourself from ambush attacks like bop/defiant alphastrikes. I got the MVAM myself and i really like piloting that ship.

Where are you all coming up with a +35% shield eng console? Are we talking about shield emitters or field emitters? Or something else entirely?

5 Phaser weapons and two torps... drop the Quantum Regulator and use 4 Phaser Relays. There's no logical reason to waste a precious tac slot with a torpedo console.

The MVAM console is by far the best console you can have on an escort and Beta mode a must have.

-10% Hull HP
+150 Impulse Speed
+15 Turn Rate
+5 Weapon Power
Crew Capacity set to 50
-10% Shield HP

Add a borg console and a Halon (for Hazard Em.) or Induction Stabilizer (Transfer Shield Str.).


Actually beam escorts suck. If you're into PvE I'd go with 2 DHCs, 1 DBB, 1 Quantum and 3 Turrets.
Use 2 Tac Teams 1, Torp Spread 1, Scatter Volley 2, Torp Spread 2, Beam Overload 3 and Scatter Volley 3.
Approach the enemy, slow down and blast away.


Personally I prefer the original advanced escort with the MVAM console because it offers a LtC slot for another BO3 or Torp Spread 3.

Off totpic, love your avatar...Star Flight was an awesome game back in the day. If only that vaporware Starflight 3 would actually be completed. Back to the subject at hand. One great use for the MVAM PRommy that I found is using GW1 along with SV3 for some nice CC during KA....too bad KA is sort of busted now.
