Hi guys, I'm trying to install STO to my MBP. However, I can't even start to set it up. I have the disc in my mac and mounted on the desktop. But when I go to install it through Wine I can't find the setup.exe. All I can see is a directs and piggs folder. No mention of anything else.

Running Lion, can't figure it out help please!

it should be in the root of the disc... just right inside, not in any subfolders.

Finally got this to work which is great. Just some performance issues though. I've got the late 2010 Macbook Pro so here are my specs:

2.6Ghz Core i7
4Gb DDR3 1067Mhz
7200Rpm HDD
Nvidia GT330M 512Mb graphics
OS X Lion 10.7.1 (latest updates installed)

Have been testing with different graphics settings in game, however I still get stuttering or what feels like lag in control inputs. I realise it's not going to be perfect, but in shooter mode it makes things very awkward indeed. Find it strange I can run Half Life 2 at nearly max settings but not STO lol. Are there any changes I need to make to my set up? Anyone with similar specced Mac's able to help?

Anything will be appreciated.

just don't overdo your graphics settings.... it should be fine.... also make sure vsync isn't on since it won't work anyways and just lower your frame rate.

With Wine is there a way to access the test shards?

I was reading online that STO is optimized to run on the integrated Intel 3000 HD.

Knowing that, would STO likely run faster in bootcamp on a 2011 machine - or would this port get you "close"? Does this port optimize for the HD 3000?

yes... exactly the same way you do on Windows.

It will run on a HD 3000...

Running in a method like this is in no way shape or form even attempting to compete with running the game in its native full Windows environment, that would just be ridiculous. If what you care about the most is high graphics settings and high frame rates, then you need to play in Windows.

Having serious performance problems with my client. I've lowered all the settings as low as they will go, turned shadows off etc. Still very slow and stuttery. The only way to get decent fps is to go half resolution, but it looks absolutely god awful. Capped fps to 30 in the troubleshooting section too to no avail. Any pointers? Native resolution for my Macbook pro is 1680x1050.
