ANY help would be appreciated.

Thanks

first, what character class are you? Engineer, Tactical, Science? (This is important to pinpointing any help )
also, what will you be flying as you level up in space? cruisers, escorts, or science vessels?

OK, so at the time i wrote this thread, I had not chosen which class i wanted:

Currently: i am a JOINED TRILL Engineering officer, with a Vulcan Science Officer as a Bridge officer and a TRILL Tac officer as a second Bridge Officer.

I still currently own the cruiser they give you from lvl 1... I really don't know how the Build system works so I think i screwed it all up for my character,

Possibly I would like someone help me put together a suitable Leveling build designed for the Engineer Class (tanking style).

Thanks a bunch.

Good starting place to get an idea on starting in-game...do understand that you aren't going to stay in the ship you have for the entire game, unless you want to, and you will probably change out your crew to compliment your career path (BOs that are Tac/Sci to compliment your Engineer, with another Engineer) for example.

You might also want to look in the Wiki for items like this:

http://www.stowiki.org/Guide:_Suggested_trait_builds

And nothing wrong with being a Joined Trill...look to where that races traits are, and go from there.
Along the way, you will get respec tokens so if something doesn't work, you can always switch it up.

so you guys dont have any suggested builds that you have tried or currently using that is tested and true? Something I can use.. I have a very difficult time reading that Wiki, it's not barney style... It appears as if Spock wrote it himself...

At the first tier you shouldn't worry about skill allocation too much. You will spend skill points in all or most of them to level to the next rank.

Most players pick space or ground combat for skill picks (especially in PVP) but you can make a mixed build work.

The ship you fly after the first tier will determine your play style as much as your class- Escorts for spike DPS, Cruiser for healing and sustained DPS or the Science ship for disruption of enemy's and healing.

The game is easy enough for most people at normal difficulty that you can pick anything and get by- Go and experiment with stuff. As others have mentioned you can respec your skill points for free at any tier.
Check in the other areas of the forums for more advice.

Most build advice that you find will be for the top tier though.

By 'leveling' build do you mean a character that will just level up fast? Because if so then their isent a specific build for that it just comes down to how you play. Just do the main story missions and some featured episodes when your stuck between missions and you will reach Vice Admiral in no time.

As for what skills you should learn as you rank up, its totally up to you. If you take a look at your character's skill window if you click on any of the skills it will give a brief description of what it will do. Its not Barney style but its not Spock either. Just play the game and as you figure out what you like to use the skills you will want to train will be clearer to you. Their is no "own everything" build in this game. Everything comes down to how you want to play.

I understand what you guys are saying about trying to figure this out on my own, It's very difficult though... I dont know what I need for optimal performance.. most of what i do is Solo and I want to be able to handle myself in any challenge thrown at me. A few "skirmishes" those little battles you come across, I've died coz either I cant move fast enough, or they eat my shields like a sandwich. I dont like that... Stuff at LT 4 shouldnt be that hard... in Champs Online, I dont even die til at least level 20, and that's if i'm really wreckless and dont watch my health..

on here ... even if i am cautious, Its very easy to get overwhelmed.
