This setup does just fine for me DPS-wise. The power drop is tolerable, and the Quatums add to hull damage nicely. I give up a small blind spot in the front on each side, but honestly, I've never had a time where it mattered. I used to do the 8 Array tactic along time ago, the power drain is too much and it is kind of boring to me.

Running 8 beams is ok for an engineer with nadion inversion but for a Tac the power drain is extensive.

Exactly. Plus it feels good actually being able to go nose-to-nose against a Klingon Cruiser. Four arrays wont make that happen.

ive been testing out this

front
2x dba
1x ba
1x photon

rear
3x ba
1x photon

im an advocate of photons the reload speed is un believable and honesly you realy dont take that much less in form of dammge they still pack a big punch (speed is always your friend)

im getting good damage and good extra crits from the extra torp that flys out when i was doing a quik turn while still being able to get aroud ad have another extra volly
