Since the advent of the diplomacy system there has been a slew of exploration cluster missions that gave out Dxp. Some of those made sense and some of them didn't. With the Doff system I wonder if its time to expand that. My ideas follow:

1) Scan 5 anomolies in space: never gave anything; change to 20 science CXP

2) Scan some form of plant life: normally 10 Dxp, change to 10 science and 10 exploration CXP

3) Scan grave markers/archeological ruins: formally 10 Dxp, change to 20 exploration CXP

4) Recover probe parts (civilization on planet); current is 10 DXP, no change

5) Analyze debris/prevent ecological disaster: current 10 DxP; change to 10 sceince and 5 DxP

6) Analyze lost ships for goverment X: no change 10 Dxp

Resons for keeping the exploration/science Cxp low... prevent exploiting those missions to achieve commendation tiers. Currenlty being done for diplomacy which I think needs to change.

Initial ideas of mine. Please debate. Changes amounts, add or subtract missions. It's high time this changed. The Doff System is the perfect was to change it.

I was actually thinking about starting a post along these same lines. Never made sense to me that scanning carnivorous plants was a diplomatic mission, but as a science mission it makes perfect sense. Another that you overlooked in your listing is the "Gorgon" mission, which would be another candidate for science + diplomacy.

Your rigght. What's funny is I just finished that mission on Tribble. Glad you agree I think the potential is there.

I think these are decent ideas and reflect the activities we're doing on the exploration missions as well. And also, it helps progress the other commendations, and helps prolong the diplomacy path.

I think I would place #4 in the same category as #5 though, or replace the 5 Dxp with 10 Engineering xp since you don't actually come in contact with the civilization in those missions.

There could also be small commendation points awarded for combat missions as well. Like the ones to inspect/repair "abandoned" space stations that may or may not have enemy squatters on board could award 10 Engineering xp too.
