This is more a question for the DEVs, but I've seen a few people raise it before in other threads.
Personally, I find the ground missions a little repetitive and boring. I'm not a ground mission guy, so
that probably influences my opinion, but I know that I'd find ground missions more interesting if
I wasn't A) collecting samples with nothing else to interact with or B) collecting samples and fighting
the stock aliens. Why not dangerous native animals and plants? Or missions requiring you to
avoid native inhabitants to avoid violating the prime directive. I know of at least one mission that
fits that criteria sans the avoiding the inhabitants. It just seems like the ground missions need a
bit of shaking up. These ARE alien planets after all. Shouldn't we be encountering interesting and
sometimes dangerous native inhabitants, animals and plant life? Just throwing it out there.
