Thanks SO MUCH for all your support, and we'll see you in-game!
Seriously, how is it the Quartermaster DOFFs are so dang scarce? Plus, they are preferred for some high-risk missions and listed on a variety of missions (as opposed to some other DOFF types that have no specific missions associated with them).
I have one Klingon-side character who can't even find ONE quartermaster, much less two.
Could we maybe get a recruitment mission that has a higher chance to award quartermasters? I've got tons of engineers, but most of my characters don't have much in the operations department. How about separating the two into their own recruitment missions instead of the combined eng/ops recruitment?
For department unspecific recruitment mechanics - i.e., cadre and C-Store - every specialization has almost exactly the same chance to appear as any other (I say "almost" because Aenar can't be Security or Tactical, but Aenar are so rare to begin with this difference is negligible).
Within a department, every specialization similarly has exactly the same chance to occur. Because the Tactical branch, for example, has fewer specializations overall, it does mean that due to department and branch-specific recruitment assignments that there are actually somewhat more Tactical branch duty officers in the game, though they also have a higher fatality rate as well, in the case of white quality Tactical branch duty officers.
I also have this problem, but managed to get another one in a pack to the alt I transferred over (thanks for the mail option now). This brings me to another thought I would like to see which might alleviate this issue. Since the Boff missions have been toned way down (I fully agree with that), recruitment CXP has slowed to a crawl. Would it hurt to break up the Science/Tactical/Engineering Cadres into 6?:
Science
Medical
Engineering
Operations
Tactical
Security
I know that doubles the number of doffs and may cause us more "pruning" issues (as it is I can only keep a roster of 95 to make enough room for the incoming packs - if I buy a C-Store 7 doff Pack, well I have to get creative).

I still think Department heads should have the chance to increase the odds of recruiting a particular DOFF position.
I would like to point out that I also can't find a quartermaster on the exchange most days.
That tells me more people want them than want to get rid of them.
I wonder, though, if we could use some kind of reactive logic on the DOFF recruitment missions or cadre pack unpacking. In other words, when a "random" assignment picks your result, could it be weighted to give better chances on receiving an officer type not currently in your roster?
