# 1 Shuttle and beam weapon size.

Probably not a bug per say, but beam weapons width on shuttles (and startership up to tier 3) are way, way to big/thick. They should either scale with ship size or just make them smaller/thinner globally. preferable the latter as for some missions being fired on by 3-4 ships all you can see is the beams hitting you.

I totally agree. When i played the Vault for the 1rst time i used the smallest available shuttle and the phaser beam was so fat that i couldn't see the shuttle while in combat. The Torpedo itself was bigger then my whole shuttle. Phaser-/Disruptorbeams should be reworked in general and shuttlebeams in particular.

Phaserbeams-/Disruptorbeams for normal Ships: Thinner
Shuttlebeams: Thinner, shorter duration of the beam like in the show. Maybe this would be good for Escorts too, especially for the defiant which is not much bigger then a shuttle...

Weapon scale and quantity (like the dual beams from the retro phasers) is controlled by the component, not the ship it is mounted on.

That having been said...

I think these should be defined by ship. This would allow Cryptic some more flexibility in the visual representation of weapons fire for older ships (like the Constitution Refit) as well as letting it stay consistent to ship size (so you don't have huge beams coming out of tiny ships).

I don't know if Cryptic has the time or resources for such a comparatively small change, however.

The only shuttles that should have torpedos are the Runabout and Delta Flyer. As far as I know those are the only 2 shuttle types that can use weapons (in Trek continuity) whereas the rest don't have any armaments whatsoever.

In season 5, episode 17 of TNG ("The Outcast"), phasers were mounted on one of the Enterprise's shuttles to shoot at a pocket of null space.

The shuttle has its own memory-alpha page. http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Magellan
