By that time though, it may go back to the $300. That would be a loose if players can do the $200 now IMO.
Yeah, but right now us subscribers aren't getting much more than the free guys. It seems like a huge risk to buy one right now with no new content and the move to free to play. I would wait for something more concrete before putting that kind of money down.
I bought one in February and I regret it. I don't believe it was worth it, when I can get pretty much everything I get now for a small monthly fee. If this was being sold last year, when the game was new, then yeah I'd go for it but not now.
Why would they be afraid of Dec. 20th? Not everybody who likes Star Trek likes Star Wars. Besides, the game is going F2P, there will always be people who will play it for free. What they should be doing is adding free for gold content that silver players have to pay C-store credits for, (races, costumes, items, etc.) rather than having a sale on something that will soon be not worth much.
