Okay,, so I have a question then. When it comes to weapons and equipment, regardless of quality, I always choose pass, as I have all of that stuff anyway, however if any of the STF loot like encrypted data chips rare Borg salvage ect. ect. are offered, I always choose need. Cause frankly, If I didn't want this I wouldn't be doing the bloody missions over and over and over again. So am I wrong then? Cause as I see it, NO ONE absolutely NEEDS these right? But we ALL want them.

Also, and I just want to put this out there, I'm rather uncomfortable with these unofficial little lists some fleets/people are keeping connected with these STFs.
I always do my best and try hard and I understand why some people feel frustrated. There is definite abuse going on, on this I'm quite sure.
BUT, I just want to point out that the opportunity for abuse is rife on BOTH sides of this issue. I could easily see people keeping these little lists to excluded players that are perceived to be inferior players, or say to exclude science in favor of escorts or what have you.

I'd say report the buggers who do abusive things during an STF, but in all honesty, I'm not all that confident
in Cryptic's ability to research such claims. (The double shield fiasco in PVP comes to mind).

I'm sorry, I can't offer a solution, I know that's what people are looking for with these issues, but I just don't like the idea of players being excluded from anything content wise. And to be honest, no one can honestly say abuse won't happen on either end of the issue. I think that those overly concerned with such issues, should just do em with their friends and fleet-mates whenever possible. TBH, that's what I've been doing anyway, because I enjoy playing with friends.

I was in a few STFs (quite a few actually lol) and in over 80+ missions, I'm happy to say that I haven't encountered any real abuse YET. But, I did encounter quite a few instances where people were raising all sorts of hell because the secondary mission had failed. Now I know that letting the team down on this issue is something to be avoided at all costs, we all like good loot. BUT I tend to think that this season is encouraging players who have not played a lot of STFs before, to start now, (with the bite sized pieces of space vs ground, and will all the emphasis on the STF sets and all) and I KNOW there are a lot of people playing them now, who are not all that familiar with them.
I would just hate to have some of these new players put on some list because someone got impatient with them.

You know, if this is an issue NOW, imagine what it will be like with all the new F2P players.

Suggestion when doing PUG groups ... If you might want it ... just hit "need" as many others are.

Go in with that attitude and your feelings are less likely to get hurt.

Regarding weapons ... a lot of good stuff comes out of those drops, so I use them to stock up the fleet bank.

Personally, I think we need another loot option of just "Greed" and make that the default for PUGged STF groups. The reason why I don't PUG STFs is the "Need" button.

Good for BOffs, good for leveling alts, or just sell for ECs.

I Need on Salvage and EDCs.

I Need on everything if anyone else does.

I Greed otherwise.

In the last few days I've done ~20 STFs, in only one of them did I use Greed.

We have to accept that the old days are gone (I think we can all agree - the past is over) and Need is the new default.

So I've been following this thread but since I don't actually do the STFs I'm curious about something. Is the loot mode automatically set to Need vs Greed? or are you automatically teamed with the loot mode dependant on the team leader?

one of my fleet mates made a comment last night that i thought was perfect for this situation. we both agreed that it should really only be a pass/roll system, but in the end, it came down to people being polite and having game etiquette (which apparently many do not have). his quote...

people just need to have manners and be polite. like putting the seat up and down when you pee.

dont be that guy that pees on the seat. its just not nice.
