There are lots of ways to max out your power levels. I didn't delve into that because of the Energy Credit/C-store cost of doing so, which isn't good for the new folks without much invested into the game.

I actually moved my weapon power back to 100 after switching to the Fleet Escort with 2x Emergency Power to Shields because I have a crap load of shield power running 2x of those skills now.

No, this is not true. Was fixed quite a while ago. There is now a 'hard cap' at 125. I have personally tested this with my escort with only 2 weapons equipped and +weapon power consoles. The power level drops from 125 no matter how high my 'theoretical' weapon power is using the old +7 weapon power consoles.

Then you are doing something wrong... I can fire one dual heavy cannon and my energy never drops below 125... only if I fire 2 at once its drops to 113...

This was a battery on a shuttle in a Klingon mission. It wasn't supposed to be transferable, and once the devs were aware that it was, they fixed the "bug". The only way to get one now is on the exchange.

You get one free energy weapon firing w/o any penalties. Two or more energy weapons firing is when the Weapon Energy drain kicks in.

Kostamojen. Very nice guide. It is a very good starting point for escort players to run STFs with a working build.

I am currently running Elite STFs in PUGs and the only thing i am really concerned about are the non-heavy plasma torp hits.

I don't have a real idea how to deal with them, as even with a full resibuffed fleet escort those little invisible buggers hit me for as high as 70k which is simply to much for my fleet escort.

Any advice on that or would it simply be: "Forget about hull. Concentrate on shields resi and heal and stay out of the damned front and rear arcs?"

EDIT: For the record my build

Weapons all Purple Phasers
1x MK XII DHC || 3x MK XI DHC
3x MK XI Turrets

Consoles
Tac 4x +26 Phaser Dmg
Sci Borg Console, Enhanced Plasma Manifold
Eng Shield Cap +35, all Resi +18, Phaser, Plasma, Tetryon, Disruptor +26

BO
TacTeam I || CRF I || APO I || CRF III
TacTeam I || CSV I || APB I
EMPtS 1 || AuxtSIF 1
EMPtS 1
Tractor Beam I || HE II

With this build i tried to find something against the torp hits. But as this doesnt seem to work well, i will probably echange AuxtSIF for RSP and one of the hullresiconsoles for shield regen or shield power console. Eventually to increase my "hold" ability i might switch one of the back turrets to tractor mines.

Built a ship based on the Defiant-R suggestion to play with since my typical Science vessel is severely hampered by a bug. Man this thing's got power! Had to replay a few story missions to get the subspace modulator, etc. Heh, in the story missions where it's only like 1-2 spheres instead of 4, you just dominate.

My problem is that I am too fast. I fly at full throttle and am constantly passing everyone by. Should I be reducing my throttle a lot and camping in one spot to shoot things? For tanking the big stuff like gates, etc. that works okay, but against other enemies it's too fast. I run 100/50/25/25, maybe I can lower the engine power more because it's simply wasted power if you have to cut the throttle to keep a manageable speed?

Lastly, has anyone tried the rapid reload transphasic you can get from the Breen missions? What about the Transphasic cluster torpedo? I noticed running with TS1 and TS2 I am almost activating the skills faster than my torp can shoot. I tried using the RRT launcher to see if it improves things any. Does the RRT have the same cooldown as the Quantums though?

Escorts are a lot easier to fly if you have direct access to your throttle. Try using Keybinds and bind your throttle to the mousewheel. You'll have to map your zoom to other keys, I like it on my numpad (+ and -):

/bind Wheelplus "throttleadjust .2"
/bind Wheelminus "throttleadjust -.2"
/bind Add "AdjustCamDistance -15"
/bind Subtract "AdjustCamDistance 15"

.2 means it takes 5 mousewheel "clicks" to get from zero speed to full throttle. You may choose other numbers like .1666 to further fine tune your speed.

When shooting at an enemy I'll try to keep him in my front arc almost all the time. Please be aware that standing still reduces your defence modifier into the negative range, so keep flying slowly forward and backward all the time.

25 is the lowest you can set a subsystem's power level at. If the fight is one you judge you can win before they blow you up, then by all means slow down. You lose defensive bonus, but again, if you're going to blow them up and finish the fight anyway, and know you will have enough time to heal up a bit before the next fight, then slow down.

I typically go at 1/4 impulse or even full stop, if I'm confident I won't take excessive damage as a result.
