# 1 DX11 option not showing
01-06-2012, 07:23 AM
So, I have a NVIDIA GFORCE 9500GT card with the latest drivers installed, which i know has DX10 support so surely I should be getting the DX11 option, even if it is just supporting DX10 features, right?

When DX11 was supposedly on Tribble (both times, Season 3 and 4 testing I believe) I had the DX11 option available to me then, and honestly the game seamed to run alot smoother too. Prob placebo effect.

Am I missing something?

edit In my Gameprefs file in the localdata folder it has : PrefEntry SystemSpecs.isDx11Enabled 1
still no DX11 option in-game.

I'm reasonably sure your card is not a DX11 card. Everything I can find on that card shows its a DX10 card at best. Not sure why you would have had a option for DX11 before.

You do not have a dx11 video card. Reason why you might have thought you did was because apparently it was found that when they had dx11 option in the options screen quite awhile ago it actually did nothing and was purely ui thing as it didn't switch anything to dx11 or otherwise. Ships did look better at that time when dx11 option appeared but it turns out that it wasn't related in the end and just a co-incidence.

The gtx 4xx series is the first line i believe for dx11 supported gfx cards. Which was one reason i got a 460 and came from the dx10 not 11 gtx 260 incase if your wondering if the gtx 2xx range was dx11 or not, which it isn't.

You can pick up a Radeon HD 5770 for a bit over $100 and they were are DX11 capable. I run two in Crossfire and they run just fine. Hoping to upgrade to a HD 6870 or better soon.
