# 1 3dhc Vs 2 Dhc 1dbb

I am an engineer and fly a defiant retrofit. I currently have 1 dual beam bank, 2 dual heavy cannons and one quantum launcher front and 3 turrets in back. I have beam overload 3 and rapid fire 1. Would it better to go 3 dual heavys or stick with what I got for straight melting DPS?

I switched my build around after doing forum research when I started doing STFs. I don't have any hard numbers to point to, but Borg die quicker and I stay alive longer with 3 Dual Heavy Cannons, quantum torpedo up front, 3 turrets in back, and 2 versions of Cannon Scatter Volley.

Take a look at this thread-
http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=244532

It was started with STFs in mind, but- IMHO- if you can get through a normal STF well you can pawn any PvE.
PvP is probably a different story.

Ok that's what I was thinking. I'll go for rapid fire 2 and scatter volley 1.

There is no question 3 D(H)C up front is far better DPS than 2 + DBB. But the DBB provides powerful burst potential which is more valuable in PVP.

The easiest answer to give is to get both setups and swap for different venues.

That is a pretty common tactic in PvP and a good one (found out by being on the recieving end), but in PvE, especially STFs, the Borg ships have substantially higher hull points.
The hard hit you will give with the BO3 will just deeply scratch a Sphere, and them your left with the lower power to weapons for lower follow up Damage.

My personal conclusion:
It's a good build against Probes as it quickly will pop that last Nanite probe.

It's 'ok' against Sphere's. see above.

It's not so good against Cubes, and worse against Tactical Cubes. Go DHC against the Tac cubes with CRFs for better sustained high DPS.

Ok maybe I'll try 3 DHC with rapid fire 2 and scatter volley 1. Also what's these changes I've heard about for the galaxy x?
