You need to do a little more research. Just because all of the profit goes to the China-based company doesn't mean they have access to all of the info. In fact, US law may out and out prevent it. Many companies work that way.
I understand the concept of subsidiaries very well, actually owning a few myself. I'm honestly not sure what statement you were trying to iterate to me? (I mean that respectfully, as I know you're trying to be helpful.) I'll admit I'm not familiar with how a subsidiary of a foreign company operates or what restrictions may be placed upon them (if any), but do you know? In my OP, I'm just asking for a bit of clarification. It's not fair to say that Cryptic is owned by a U.S. company, when in truth, their ownership is more gray than that.
The launcher has a logo for Perfect World, but none for Cryptic. And the prominent one on the homepage is Perfect World also. Cryptic's logo is in the footer of the page, along with logos to other companies that have no affiliation with STO, like Alienware and nVidia. It's all very concerning to me.
