It is not, but it is a DX10 card. DX11 is a strict superset of DX10, and will run on DX10 cards, minus tessellation, which I believe the game isn't using anyway.

The graphics guys (programmers) have been doing a lot of DX11 stuff of late. I know it's been a big chore, and they keep running into new issues, particularly on ATI cards. It wouldn't surprise me if they pulled it so they could work on it more before trying again.

As for Tessellation, it's a grand idea, and CAN look amazing. But objects have to be build with tessellation in mind. Shoving any old model into DX11 Tessellation does not yield great (or even mediocre) results. Often it's quite ugly in fact. As such, since STO's assets were not made with this in mind, it is unlikely that it will be added.

Thanks for all the feedback and all, but....

...It's not what I asked

No, my NVIDIA graphics card is'nt a DX11 card, but it is a DX10 card. So, shouldn't I be getting the DX11 option to at least show off my tiny, probably insignificant gains from the features of DX10 instead of only being able to use DX9 features because it is the only option available to me.

I'm no computer expert so I really don't know how any of it works, just how to fire fire my phasers and shoot my quantums

When DX11 was supposedly on Tribble (both times, Season 3 and 4 testing I believe) I had the DX11 option available to me then, and honestly the game seamed to run alot smoother too. Prob placebo effect.

In my Gameprefs file in the localdata folder it has : PrefEntry SystemSpecs.isDx11Enabled 1
still no DX11 option in-game.

Am i missing something? Do other peple with DX10 only cards get the DX11 option?
The simple answer is that your 9500GT is *NOT* a DX11 compatible card. DX11 is not DX10. Unless the engine is coded to support both DX10 and DX11, the option usually won't even show up for you. And even if your card did support DX11, you'd have to be running Windows 7 in order for that option to even show up at all (I'm assuming that you are).

I can say that DX11 is working aboslutely great on my Radeon HD 5770 card. Overall performance is way up compared to DX9, especially in 3D. Some areas still bog down the frame rate, but that's not unexpected since they're high traffic areas like Earth Space Dock.

Vista does suppost DirectX 11 but you have to be running SP2. There is a Platform upgrade that you have to install to get the latest DirectX.(*went through the very long process of upgrading to SP2 this week. ugh! *).

Yes, that is true...but I refrained from mentioning Vista since it seems to be the modern equivilent of the Windows OS that shall not be named.

Considering the graphics bugs its causing for some people they at least need to have the option to turn it off.
