i was just wondering what you guys thought for a weapons loadout of a defiant class escort.
i know thers quite a few similar posts But i Dont want phasers Or disrupters
i was using tetryon+quantum combo on my akira wich was working ok
but before i commit to anything i figured id ask the community

i dont want disrupters because... well it just feels wrong on a fed ship and i dont think it looks very good having 2 ships with the same color weapons firing on each other!

All weapon effect types do the same damage. The only difference is the secondary effects. People like Phasers because they have a chance to disable systems (disabled shields and engines are a big plus) but Mk II Phasers do the same base damage as Mk II Plasmas. If you're only PvEing it doesn't really matter that much at all.
which ever is cheaper at this point. when you get to Admiral (sounds like your a captain), you might want to look at AP for the extra critical numbers it puts up. phasers are insanely expensive (last i looked they were anyways) on the exchange if you dont want to grind it out. you could use any of them PvE really and get similar results. PvP is a different story, but who even PvPs anymore (sarcasm pvp guys, just kidding. kinda). On one of my tac toons i use polarons (lolarons) and theyre kinda fun. just no rainbow- it hurts your dps because you cant use the energy specific tac consoles.
Do you can try with AP... its are "close" to phaser (on color) and those are effective.
I'm using on my defiant retrofit, the quad cannon (it isn't the best weapon... but is very useful as "tracer shoots" to the others 2 DCH with quamtun torp (fore and atf) and 2 beams arrays in the atf. All of them are phaser (I love it)... but with ap, you can make the same or better (another DCH in exchange for the quad (better option, but quad looks too good.... ) and you can forget the -10 to engine from it.... no comment).

On most of my ships, I've been running Anti-Proton, it does pretty well. Ive been contemplating having forward weapons Anti-Proton for the extra umph and phaser turrets in the aft for higher rate of fire/chance to disable equipment.
My defiant tier 4 uses 3 DHC tetryons which i picked mainly for the shield drain as i want the big ships shields to drop quickly when im fighting. 2 polaron turrets on the rear and a quantum up front. I used to have just DC on but i have read if your using 3 cannons up front then use DHC so i did and its alot better and just as quick when using the cannon rapid fire or scatter volley powers.
Haven;'t hit the defiant build yet, but the commander level escort I have nothing but twin cannon up front with a single 360' field if fire cannon on the back. Every BOFF has skills that either beef up my shields or make my cannons shoot faster/better. one salvo in PVE (one each of PLA,DIS,and PHA dual cannons) with my cannon rapid fire I active can tear down the facing shield all but the most swarthy of opponents. They take 2, sometimes 3.

on my akira i had 2 tet HCs and a quantum front and 1 tet turret and a tet beam array back (for dealing with those Blasted Dderidex warbirds torpedo vollys)
it depends on your skills too. first, if you have beam overload 3 or beam target shields 3 (lt.cmdr spot), then it might be useful to keep 1 dual beam bank up front. if you dont have beam overload 3, then i would stick with 3x DHC and 1x torp.
i wouldnt suggest using a beam array in the back unless you have one of those as well, but even then i would discourage it. the whole point of an escort is frontal DPS. with 2 turrets in the rear, you get as much DPS as you can during your first past (alpha strike). some people prefer 3 DHC with a torp up front and 2 turrets rear- others do 3 DHC and 1 DBB front with 1 turret and 1 torp rear- that choice is up to you.
currently on my VA defiant refit i use 3x DHC and 1x DBB up front with 2x turrets rear and 1x torpedo launcher. I used to run 2x DHC, 1x DBB and 1x torpedo launcher front with 3x turrets rear, but i wanted to try something different. they both work equally well IMO.
also, be sure to use only 1 type of energy weapon, ie disruptor, phaser, AP, etc. the reason for this being that the proc will hit more constantly because you have more of the same weapon type, and the 2nd reason being that the specific energy weapon consoles are much better than the generic energy weapon consoles. for example, my mk xi AP mag regulators are +24% damage while the prefire chamber equivalent is only +18% damage. by using the AP console, im maximizing the amount of damage my weapons do. with the +18% damage and different damage types, im losing a lot of DPS per salvo. it may look pretty, but it isnt very effective.
edit- see that youre using all tets- thats good. but the advice still stays the same, so be sure whatever energy type you decide on, stick with it! and have fun!
(no, I'm not under the delusion that this is a cruiser But the arrays offer good flexibility during "evasive maneuvers", with the cannons and torps for punch. (and yes, I have Fire At Will and both Spread and High Yield.) I'm considering swapping out the front array for another set of cannons, though, leaving just the ones in back. )
