I HAVE thought long and hard about this for over a year before proposeing it. About the only think I am changing is the BOFF layout, not the rest of the ship's stats. The Commander ENG and the LT Commander slot expose most of the important TEAM SUPPORT abilities. One of those is undeboutably going to be equipped with EPtS III.

Replace one you lose the ability to load ES III, ENG III or EptAux II (I think). Also, you lose any offensive capability in terms of EPW III and DEM III if you want to use them.

Aggreed! Do you realize what my tac could do with a Lt Commander Tactical Cruisar sporting 4 DHC, CRF1&2 and a hull in excess of 51k? Not to mention these Klink cruisars can acheive 26+ degrees per second turning rate. And yes, of coarse i would so use it but I think it would be out of balance.

However, a variation with an extra sci bo would be cool.

You do realize that the Nebula has two universal slots? The beauty of the BOP is that ALL of the slots are universal allowing for nearly unlimited customization. In exchange for this, there is only 4 BOFF slots (instead of 5). The total number of powers for the BOP is one less than all of the other ships. I believe that it was the compromise for the Battle Cloak.

BoP has three distinct advantages and three distinct disadvantages:

All universal slots
High Turnrate
Battlecloak

one less BO slot
one less weapon compared to "escorts"
weakest hull/shields of them all

I'm not sure we can "assign" one advantage one disadvantage with absolute certainty.
That's what makes balancing this little devil so difficult.

Go for the Vor'cha refit, it got the ensign slot switched to tactical.

I wouldn't change the Boff layout on the Negh'var, since the main purpose of the ship is to support your team.
Btw. my eng use 1 with DHC, and the dmg from each isn't under 2k, so i think it deals enought dmg if skilled right.
ripping the lt.cmd eng out would make the ship to something, that can do anything, bot nothing really at all...

A swiss army knife has way more advantages than a broad sword, but I would not run into battle with a knife regardless if it has tweezers, a magnifying glass, corkscrew and a file.

Thats how I see the BoP, a wonderful tool with a multitude of options availible but not designed to any particular purpose and weak becuase of it.
